**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**
We are seeking a highly motivated, team-orientated individual to join our Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.

Reporting to the Senior Director, the primary purpose of the Conservation and Parks Program Advisor is to assist in maintaining meaningful relationships with Park Canada through the national Urban Parks and Ecological Corridors programs. This staff member will act as MNBC’s liaison with Parks Canada, as well as raise awareness of conservation project opportunities, specifically Parks programs, and identifying ways Métis in BC can contribute to Urban Parks and Ecological Corridors.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Raising awareness of conservation project opportunities, specifically Parks programs and identifying ways Métis in BC can contribute to Urban Parks and Ecological Corridors.
- Engagement with Parks Canada on the National Urban Parks Program and the National Program for Ecological Corridors program.
- Engagement with MNBC citizens (virtual workshops, community meetings/gathering, social media, surveys, etc.) on conservation related initiatives and programs.
- Conducts policy analyses and research studies and prepares reports and recommendations.
- Identifies policy issues and provides advice to senior staff.
- Develops documents including briefing notes, discussion papers, fact sheets, correspondence, flow charts and other materials.
- Creating and updating tracking documents to coordinate complex projects
- Liaising with other MNBC Ministries on a regular basis to ensure departmental priorities are being advanced
- Representing MNBC as necessary in meetings with governments.
- Conducting research to support advocacy work.

**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE**
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant program from a recognized university or college, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working collaboratively with Indigenous communities, government, or other stakeholders.
- Technology proficiency in standard office equipment.
- Strong written & oral communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-issue environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of government processes and protocol.
- Organizational and time-management skills.
- Able to work extended hours or on weekends as required.
- Willing and able to travel, at times, with overnight stays in other communities.

**OTHER COMMENTS**
- Other duties may be assigned as needed to help ensure the efficient operation of MNBC
- There will be a need to attend meetings and events which may require work and travel outside of the normal business hours.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s license and access to reliable personal vehicle for work purposes
