**The Opportunity**

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) and the South Coast Conservation Land Management Program (SCCLMP) are seeking four Conservation Technicians to assist with summer fieldwork throughout the BC South Coast (primarily the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley). Possible travel to other regions of BC may be required. This position will provide an excellent opportunity to learn about and work in the fields of Conservation and Resource Management while developing field skills applicable to these and other job fields.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Conduct field surveys, maintain maps, and record data associated with conservation activities
- Conduct operations and maintenance activities including vegetation and trail maintenance, sign installation, and repairs of walkways, viewing towers, etc.
- Perform wetland infrastructure maintenance activities including water control structure inspections and maintenance, beaver debris removal, and operation of pumping facilities
- Conduct invasive plant management, including invasive plant inventories, surveys, mechanical removal, and chemical treatment
- Engage with the public and conduct outreach activities to promote responsible use of conservation lands
- Assist with database maintenance and report writing as needed

**Requirements**:

- Pursuing or completed post-secondary education in biology, ecology, environmental science, resource management, agriculture, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent knowledge and experience)
- Sufficient fitness level to conduct physical work, heavy lifting, and outdoor work in challenging environments in all weather conditions and occasionally in remote locations
- Hold a valid current driver’s license (in good standing) and ability to provide current driver’s abstract
- Knowledge of local species and ecosystems, experience with invasive plant management, GPS/GIS based technologies and survey techniques, and computer programs such as the Microsoft Office
- Light construction experience and experience using various field equipment including 4WD pickup trucks, mowers, brush cutters, chain saws, generators, chest waders, binoculars, and camera

**Additional Details**
- Anticipated start date May 1, 2023; anticipated end date August 31, 2023
- Pay: $18-21 per hour (commensurate with experience), 35-hour work weeks (plus 4% vacation pay)
- Field equipment will be provided by DUC
