Halifax, Canada Maritime Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Centre Full time

The Hospital Manager is a key member of the hospital leadership team. The Hospital Manager is responsible for creating a hospital culture based on high-quality patient care and exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include supporting Department Team Leads, supervising, planning, and coordinating the overall operations of the hospital, and cultivating a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Reports to Hospital Director

Supports Department Supervisors, Team Leads and Hospital Support Staff

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**
- Leadership and Planning:_
- Acts as a champion for change and identifies, documents, shares and promotes best practices.
- Participates in the financial planning, monitoring, and budgeting process.
- Assists with establishing goals for the hospital and staff.
- Supports Team Leads with hospital scheduling to manage labor costs to budget.
- Support Inventory Coordinator to manage hospital inventory within budget.
- Assist with Special Events as needed
- May be required to work varying hours to meet and observe hospital team and operations
- Operations_
- Assists Hospital Administrator with employee benefits program and hospital insurance plans.
- Assists with developing and implementing hospital policy, including monitoring DEA/Controlled Substances and OSHA compliance.
- Performs regular quality checks and reviews of client records and invoicing.
- Monitors computer systems and works with Help Desk to resolve technical systems / equipment issues.
- Coordinates support staffing needs including hiring, training, annual evaluations and progressive discipline.
- Client Service_
- Demonstrates and reinforces the highest level of client service.
- Resolves client issues, escalations and oversees client follow-up communication.
- Financial_
- Ensures payroll is accurately completed and submitted for all hospital support staff.
- Manages accounts receivable and cash on hand, including performing invoice audit reviews.
- Supports Inventory Coordinator to ensure hospital inventory controls and costs are within budget.
- Performs other duties essential to the performance of the hospital as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in business or related degree is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a veterinary hospital management/ supervisory role ideal.
- LVT / RVT highly preferred
- Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas:_
- Multi-functional operations including budgeting and labor management.
- Manage time and tasks appropriately and remain flexible with assigned duties.
- Supervisory and leadership experience.
- Reporting and data analysis.
- Problem-solving and resolution management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office, including excel.
- Interpersonal skills with staff, clients, and works well in a team environment.
- Staff management including coaching, developing, and motivating staff.
- Conduct annual performance reviews.
- Ability to delegate and achieve results with hospital team members.
- Make decisions confidently and effectively.
- Model a professional and courteous manner with staff and clients.
- Handle difficult conversations with staff and clients with poise.
