**Shifts**: Vary in their start and end time and can change due to the needs of our guests. A mixture of days, evenings, holidays and weekend shifts.

**What you will be doing**:
Reporting to the Director of Rooms, the Night Manager oversees the evening Guest Experience Ambassadors, Guest Service Agents, and Night Auditors, ensuring that the highest levels of hospitality and service are provided.

The Night Manager maintains a strong working relationship with all departments, including Food and Beverage, Security, and Engineering to support property operations and goals, and to expedite the resolution of any problems that may arise through the general operation of the property.
- Maintains regular and constant contact with front office agents and monitors their contact with guests. Ensure appropriate staff interactions with guests
- Provides constant feedback to hotel management and department heads concerning service issues, including guest requests, complaints and comments
- Foster and promote a cooperative working environment, maximizing productivity and employee morale
- Provide exemplary leadership in the area of customer service and customer interaction
- Oversees the timely execution of the night audit process, and preparation of reports and information for the next day of operation
- Review VIP arrivals and makes certain that guest’s needs for special requests are met
- Maintain up-to-date status on in-house groups, functions, arrivals and departures
- Measures current levels of service performance against previously measured benchmarked performance and constantly strive for improvement
- Empower and coach staff in providing technically proficient, courteous and timely service
- Assist security with any overnight issues
- Work with Director of Rooms and HR to develop training and development planning
- Ensure staff are trained in the safe work procedures associated with all of their tasks
- Promote safety awareness to associates and demonstrate that safe job performance is the number one priority
- Conducts duties in a courteous, safe and efficient manner, in accordance with hotel policies and procedures, ensuring that the highest level of service and communication in maintained

**Your experience and skills include**:

- Diploma or Certificate in Hotel/Restaurant Management or the equivalent an asset
- Must be able to build and maintain credibility and relationships with customers
- At least one year’s experience in a similar role preferred
- Previous experience working in luxury an asset
- First Aid Certificate is an asset
- Strong organizational, time management and planning skills
- Basic computer knowledge - experience using Opera or Lightspeed, and Micros an asset
- Detailed knowledge of Halifax area and available services
- Positive and can-do attitude
- Excellent communication abilities (English is mandatory, a relevant second language an asset)
- Effective complaint handling
- Physically able to stand for an entire shift
- Ability to handle cash and credit procedures
