OPPORTUNITY:
Title: Intern, Communications

Reports to: Manager, Communications

Location: Golf Canada Head Office and Remote

Status: Contract

Ideal Start Date: May 2025

End Date: August 2025

OVERVIEW:
PRIMARY DUTIES:
1. Amateur Championship Coverage
- Serve as the media contact for national/regional/qualifying golf championships across Canada.
- Facilitate media requests from journalists at Golf Canada championships.
- Create and maintain local/regional/national media databases.
- Produce written advance stories and daily recaps for Golf Canada championships.
- Assist hired photographers on-site during play and with award presentations.
- Update/produce media guides for Golf Canada championships.
- Upload photos into the PhotoShelter database following Golf Canada championships.
- Assist with social content capture (photos, short videos) at Golf Canada championships.

2. RBC Canadian Open and CPKC Women’s Open
- Assist with credentialing and media sign-in at both professional championships.
- Support media centre set-up and daily operations during tournament week.

3. Administrative Support
- Develop written content for Golf Canada’s online and social properties.
- Research, fact check, write, and distribute media releases in a timely manner.
- Uploading content onto WordPress (website).
- Uploading and distributing press releases and recaps using the Mailchimp platform.
- Previous experience using WordPress and Mailchimp considered an asset but not required.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:

- Post-secondary degree/diploma or working towards one in public relations, communications, or a related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Previous experience and passion for writing is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and administration skills.
- Strong decision making and conflict resolution abilities.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including advanced MS Excel skills.
- Bilingual (English and French) is not required but considered an asset.
- Golf knowledge or experience is not required, however, an interest in the game of golf and in Golf Canada’s mission is considered an asset.
- Evening and weekend hours are required on occasion to cover Canadian and relevant global golf news.
- Some travel to Golf Canada championships will be required.

1. Couverture des championnats amateurs
- Agir comme contact avec les médias pour les championnats de golf nationaux/régionaux et tournois de qualification à travers le Canada.
- Répondre aux demandes des journalistes lors des championnats de Golf Canada.
- Créer et tenir à jour une base de données des médias locaux/régionaux/nationaux.
- Rédiger des articles préliminaires et des résumés quotidiens des championnats de Golf Canada.
- Aider les photographes embauchés sur le site pendant le jeu et lors de la présentation des prix.
- Produire/mettre à jour les guides des médias pour les championnats de Golf Canada.
- Téléverser les photos dans la base de données PhotoShelter après les championnats de Golf Canada.
- Aider à la saisie de contenu social (photos, courtes vidéos) aux championnats de Golf Canada.

2. Omnium canadien RBC et Omnium féminin CPKC
- Aider à l’exécution des initiatives de communications pour les championnats professionnels de Golf Canada (Omnium canadien RBC et Omnium féminin CPKC), dont la journée des médias, les guides des médias, les guides de performance des joueurs et les demandes d’accréditation.
- Aider aux accréditations et à l’inscriptions des médias aux deux championnats professionnels.
- Soutenir la mise en place et le fonctionnement quotidien du cendre de presse pendant la semaine de tournoi.

3. Soutien administratif
- Élaborer du contenu rédactionnel pour les plateformes en ligne et sociales de Golf Canada.
- Effectuer les recherches, la vérification des faits, la rédaction et la diffusion des communiqués de presse en temps opportun.
- Téléverser du contenu sur WordPress (site web).
- Téléverser et diffuser les communiqués de presse par le truchement de la plateforme Mailchimp.
