**Role**:
The Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Trade is looking for a strategic leader with regulatory enforcement and supervisory experience to join Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Program Delivery within the Safe, Fair and Healthy Workplaces Division as the Manager of Inspections - North Region.

Reporting to the Director of Inspections, this position manages the delivery of the OHS compliance programs and provides leadership and direction to a staff of Occupational Health and Safety Officers responsible for enforcement of the OHS legislation. As a member of the OHS Inspections North management team, the Manager provides expert input into the establishment of regional and branch priorities, goals, and program initiatives including the allocation of resources throughout the region.

At the work site level, this position plans and implements operational programs and improvements in the compliance program and services for the area, encouraging and coordinating innovative input from OHS staff. The Manager is a key position in linking the Mission, Vision and Objectives of the department to the delivery of compliance services. The position is required to meet branch business plan goals and objectives and provides input into the development and oversees team implementation of program plans.

- Has the proven ability to anticipate issues; use problem solving techniques and makes timely and reasoned decisions to meet service delivery targets.
- Ability to deliver presentations to staff, clients and the public.

**Qualifications**:
**Required**:
- University degree or diploma in a related field plus a minimum of four years of related experience, including progressively responsible assignments concerning co-ordination of programs or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience mentoring and coaching individuals is also required.

**Equivalencies**:

- Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

**Other Requirements**:

- Ability to obtain Peace Officer appointment under the Alberta Peace officer Act

**Assets**:

- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation
- Technical knowledge of safety, health, biological, ergonomic, chemical, and physical hazard identification, assessment and control measures.
- Project planning and project management experience/certification
- Change management experience/certification
