**Work Hours: Dayshift Monday to Friday 6am to 2pm + weekend OT**

**Position Summary**:
Position Summary: Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Assurance Technician’s main function is to ensure the fast & accurate handling of documents, finished good decision making, and raw material tests to support the quality team in food safety and quality verification and compliance. This person will have a working knowledge of current North American food safety regulations and GFSI requirements. The position may require work with cross-functional teams to ensure that raw material or finished products are inspected and released in a timely manner and that non-conforming product disposition is handled in an efficient manner. Ideally, this individual will have 2-3 years previous experience as a QA Technician in a food-processing environment and food testing lab. Must be able to work up to six (6) days a week, weekends, and/or overtime.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assist with the development of food safety and quality systems through technical leadership.
- Ensure product quality & safety and GMP through regular inspections as per procedure and by educating production personnel about food safety and quality procedures and requirements.
- Decisive decision maker
- Ensure that packaging and ingredients meet specifications prior to production
- Conduct swabbing and other sampling (_water, air, etc_.) following environmental monitoring program and perform trend analysis.
- Report any GMP violation or non-conformity, conduct investigation and follow up on the CAPA.
- Assists in the investigation of customer complaints and dispositions of out-of-date materials.
- Maintain the electronic records system and portals up-to-date, participate in equipment calibration and lab supply orders, and in the safety program.
- Assisting with the recommendation of changes to manufacturing practices and/or production flow to ensure the safety of products.
- Maintain QA records in safe, secure and orderly manner.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Maintain a clean & tidy work area.
- Overtime is required as scheduled

**Education And Experience Required**:

- Associate’s or Bachelors degree or Diploma in food science, Microbiology or related discipline.
- 2-3 years quality assurance experience in food manufacturing industry
- 2+ years’ experience utilizing Microsoft office with intermediate proficiency
- 2+ years’ experience with HACCP and GMP

**Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills**:

- Experience with GFSI considered an asset
- Good oral & written communication skills
- Ability to work in a high paced and stressful environment
- Schedule flexibility including working early mornings, late evenings, night, weekends, holidays and overtime.

- Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs
