QA Supervisor

**Role Purpose**: Assist the QA Manager in overseeing the day-to-day plant operations of the Quality Assurance Department and monitors plant processes to ensure that MLF and the customers’ quality and food safety requirements are achieved and maintained. Splits the supervision of 20 QA Technicians over 2nd Shift from 4pm to 12:30am..**:
**Key Accountabilities and Activities**:
- Perform on-site observations of QA Technicians and verify documentation. Identifies quality defects and food safety issues and other problems, particularly when problems recur in multiple products; recommends solutions to these issues.
- Implements, train and manage processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality prior to delivery.
- Communicates and trains personnel on new directives, policies, or procedures to QA staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.
- Perform Health and Safety training and submit Health and Safety, personal contacts.
- Participate as a member of the cross-functional team by acting as the liaison between QA, Operations, and 2nd Shift Sanitation to ensure that the plant is meeting all regulatory compliance requirements.
- Assist in the investigation of food safety incidents and customer complaints, providing functional support to the crisis team as required.
- Aid in the implementation of policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.
- Work rotating and overtime schedule (as needed) to ensure the operation of the plant and department if necessary.
- Perform root cause analysis investigations for customer complaints, foreign material, and quality failures as needed.
- Assist in BRC, Customer/Supplier Food Safety Audits as required.
- Provide ongoing information about QA- 2nd Shift activity to the QA Manager.
- Schedule next day’s sampling and prepare the 2nd Shift samples for the in-house lab submission.

a. Organize and supervise the activities and work of a team of subordinates to ensure that all assigned work activity is carried out in an efficient and procedurally compliant manner.
b. Provide formal and informal feedback to subordinates to ensure their continuous development and overall contribution to the achievement of Maple Lodge Farms business strategy

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**:
- Minimum five years of experience working in quality assurance and/or research and development in the food manufacturing industry (preferably in meat and a unionized environment);
- Advanced knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.;
- Advanced knowledge of knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and all other workplace H&S regulations;
- Demonstrated success in building strong, collaborative teams, setting stretch objectives, and holding people accountable for commitments with a track record of delivery favorable results;
- Team-player with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities;
- General Computer Skills (e.g., MS Office)
**Education and Certificates**:
- Post-Secondary in a related filed preferred.
