Term Bylaw Enforcement Officer

Duties & Responsibilities
- Receives and investigates complaints involving bylaw violations: issues tickets or compliance orders, advises complainant with respect to action taken, follows up with complainants when necessary to ensure compliance.
- Maintains records of tickets and infractions for follow up and/or prosecution purposes.
- Assists Town departments with the removal of parked/abandoned vehicles, snow removal, business licences, property checks, and various enquiries.
- Works in co-operation with RCMP on criminal offences related to municipal property and property damage reports.
- Maintains and controls exhibits and lost and found items, maintains appropriate records, and ensures items are disposed of properly when required.
- Educates public with respect to municipal bylaws to improve compliance.
- Prepares and delivers reports periodically to the Manager of Protective Services with respect to enforcement activities, recommendations for new bylaws, and/or amendments to current bylaws.
- Animal handling/control.
- Follow all health and safety recommendations and standards to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and the community.
- Remain professional and calm in stressful situations and effectively and rationally deal with verbally abusive or hostile individuals.

- Strong customer service skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Ability to work both independently and collegially in a team environment.

Education, Qualifications, & Experience
- Two (2) years of recent bylaw enforcement experience.
- Diploma in enforcement/criminology or equivalent asset.
- Completion of the Community Peace Officer Level II or Municipal Enforcement Officer training course an asset.
- Recent security/bylaw enforcement experience an asset.
- Animal control experience recommended but not required.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

**Salary**: $34.80-$37.18 per hour

Schedule:

- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Vegreville, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
