Position Summary:

The Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) helps to build a vibrant community and works towards improving the quality of life in Vegreville. The Community Development Coordinator position operates within an early and later stage prevention framework that has three main levels of responsibilities and is delivered through seven potential roles that foster working together and taking collective action to reach community goals. This is term position of approximately 2 months.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Areas of Focus:

  • Information & Referrals: Improving residents’ access to services.
  • Education & Awareness: Building capacity of community through education.
  • Volunteer Development & Building Natural Supports: Facilitating connections and support networks that are the bridge betweenresidents and organizations.
  • Taking Collective Action: Working together to reach our community goals.
  • Later Stage Prevention Support: Providing support to initiatives that address complex social challenges.
  • Delivery of Core FCSS Programs: Providing services that build a resilient community.
Requirements:
  • Formal education in one of the following fields of study: Psychology, Sociology, Education, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, and Early Childhood Development. A combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
  • Value collaboration and have a strong ability to make connections, build partnerships, cultivate trust, and foster shared decision makingand task management.
  • Possess skills in asset-based community development, facilitation, and organizational growth.
  • Enjoy converting research, data, and other information into user-friendly resources.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite programs and online platforms such as Canva, Prezi, and Zoom.
  • The successful candidate will be required to pass a Criminal Record Check Vulnerable Sector Check, and a Child Intervention Record Check
