Director, Brand and Digital Engagement

**Job Description**:

Reporting to the Executive Director, Brand, Partnerships and Digital Communication Systems, the Director, Brand and Digital Engagement is a key member of the Communications leadership team, responsible for developing health and care promotion and corporate reputation strategies to successfully engage internal and external audiences in Island Health's purpose and vision. As a strategic leader, the Director works collaboratively with peers across the Communications and Partnerships portfolio to develop and execute campaigns that increase social engagement, positive brand sentiment, brand affinity, and corporate reputation aligned with Island Health's organizational priorities and strategic direction, and with our digital and proactive communication strategies. This role is also responsible for the stewardship of Island Health's brand and story across multiple platforms and audiences.
With a background that reflects diverse experiences, the Director is first and foremost an engaging storyteller and inspiring leader who brings unparalleled expertise in leveraging various media platforms to successfully engage the Island Health community, including patients, families, communities, employees, medical staff and partners. The Director is innovative and has deep understanding and experience in developing, executing, and measuring the impact of marketing communication campaigns that inspire understanding and action. The Director is a seasoned people leader with a personal commitment to learning and development and for the team of communications professionals they lead.
The Director works in close alignment with other portfolio Directors on shared oversight of priority and strategic campaigns (events, awareness initiatives, key strategies, timely and relevant public interest communications, etc.), and works cross-functionally with Island Health leaders, Ministry of Health and regional health authority counterparts, and internal and external partners. Working within a large and complex multi-site public sector organization, the Director requires an understanding of Island Health's many diverse internal and external audiences, along with the unique considerations and factors that impact communications in our region. Awareness of local, regional and provincial priorities and pressures within the healthcare context is critical.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Bachelor's degree specializing in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field. Minimum of 10 years of recent, related experience in a large, multi-union and/or public sector environment, including experience in management and/or leadership roles.

- Thorough understanding of political and health care environment, including local and regional councils and leadership structures in British Columbia.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in problem identification and resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently, set priorities, and drive results.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Superb time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to remain calm, alert, and high functioning under stressful situations.
- Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive issues with skill, tact, and diplomacy.
- Ability to carry out the duties of the position with a high degree of ethical and professional behaviour.
