Under the authoritý of the Director of Planning and Programming and under the supervision of the Saqijuq Coordinator, the person co-intervenes in crisis situations with a Nunavik Police Service (NPS) officer to form a Mobile intervention team (MIT). The team uses de-escalation and pacification techniques to resolve crisis situations in the community in order to reduce unnecessary detentions and hospitalizations.

The MIT works in collaboration with members of the community as well as with the CLSC social services, the NPS, the hospital services of the CSTU and the DPJ in order to respond to emergency calls involving people in psychosocial crisis and in immediate danger. The team conducts social patrols in the community for prevention purposes and participates in community activities to create links in order to better intervene in crisis situations.

The MIT worker is comfortable with crisis intervention and is familiar with the issues surrounding suicide, family violence, sexual abuse, substance abuse and mental health problems in a northern context. The MIT Intervener recognizes the importance of intervening in a community-based approach by mobilizing the resources of the person in crisis to provide a safety net of people who know them well and can support them.

Specifically, you will:

- Work and intervene as a team with an NPS police officer to respond to psychosocial emergency calls;
- Conduct social patrols in the community to provide preventative interventions;
- Intervene directly with clients in crisis or conflict situations;
- Work in collaboration with all actors concerned by psychosocial crises such as social workers, rehabilitation services, community workers, nurses, physicians, residential resources;
- Provide information and interpretation of the various laws concerning clinical aspects (e.g. law P38, LSSS, LPJ, etc.) to police officers and partners who require it as part of their work;
- Compile daily statistics for each intervention performed;
- Work in collaboration with the On-The-Land team in Kuujjuaq;
- Participate in the Nitsiq+ (Nunavik Wellness court) mandate;
- Complete any other tasks requested by the coordinator.

**Qualifications**
- University degree in human relations (psychology, psycho-education, social work, criminology etc.)
- Graduate degree in intervention would be an asset
- Minimum of two years experience in the health and social services network
- Substance abuse and mental health intervention knowledge and experience
- Crisis intervention knowledge and experience
- Open-mindedness, flexibility and tolerance for ambiguity
- Great ability to adapt
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Respect for the Inuit culture and its traditions.
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to speak two of the three languages used in Nunavik: Inuktitut, French or English
