**POSITION TITLE: Specialist, Proposals, Research & Donor Relations**

**REPORTING TO**:Director, Philanthropy
- Dotted line to: Director, Programs
- Contract role: May 2023 to April 2024 with the possibility of extension

Annual salary range is approximately: $50,000 to $60,000

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Specialist, Proposals, Research and Donor Relations is responsible for the creation of compelling donor proposals, the development, implementation, and tracking of personalized donor communications, and prospecting foundation and government opportunities.

An experienced donor relations professional, the Specialist will play a key role in the implementation of donor journeys, donor reports and communications, gift agreements, donor recognition systems, and logístical support to stewardship and cultivation activities and events. As a member of the philanthropy team, they will manage the process of gift accountability to sustain and deepen the interest and commitment of the organization’s stakeholders and donors. They will also develop and manage systems and processes to provide enhanced tracking and delivery of donor stewardship.

**Philanthropic Writing (45%)**
- Support the development and writing of appeals to annual donors
- Lead the writing of donor newsletters and quarterly communications
- Initiate the writing of acknowledgement communications in a timely manner for Executive Director and Director, Philanthropy immediately following major gift commitments
- Lead the development of the organization’s annual report
- Assist the programs team with the development of the organization’s programs report
- Write personalized quarterly and annual impact reports for specific donors
- Lead the implementation of the organization’s donor centric voice across all communications

**Donor Relations (30%)**:

- In collaboration with Director, Philanthropy and team members draft gift agreements, record details in Salesforce and ensure commitments are fulfilled in a timely and meaningful manner throughout the year with appropriate appreciation and recognition as part of their donor journey
- Work with Philanthropy team members to ensure effective donor relations are implemented across all tiers of giving to maximize a donor’s likelihood of renewal
- Coordinate gathering, summarizing, and evaluating donor survey data to inform and drive donor communications strategies
- Develop, maintain, and evolve reporting systems to ensure donors are apprised of the impact of their donation and that donors are appropriately stewarded
- In collaboration with Operations and Philanthropy teams, evolve Salesforce dashboards and reporting for donor and donation retention (ie. renewals, upgrades, lapsed)
- Extract donor lists from Salesforce for ongoing communications and lead the data management process in collaboration with the Philanthropy and Finance Operations teams
- Implement donor recognition strategies that meet the needs of donors and are consistent with recognition policies including annual donor listings and physical/virtual donor recognition
- Support the execution of special events, integrating appropriate stewardship activities as an integral part of their delivery
- Lead the development of in season and year end/ holiday communication to key donors and stakeholders, in collaboration with Philanthropy team members
- In collaboration with Philanthropy, Marketing and Communications and Programs team members, design, develop and execute new and improved donor stewardship and engagement materials
- Maintain knowledge of industry practices and trends in stewardship, reporting, and donor engagement to support best in class donor satisfaction, and engagement
