**About the role**
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a **regular full-time Analyst **to join our dynamic **Health Policy and Governmental Affairs team.**

The **Health Policy and Governmental Affairs team** is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by engaging with federal, provincial, and territorial health ministries, particularly corporate members, and their representatives, and with other elected officials across the country. This team also plays a critical role in issues resolution within health policy and government environments.

In this role, you will report to the Lead, Health Policy, but will also work closely with the Lead, Official Engagement, and the department Director. You will be responsible for delivering or contributing to environmental scans, briefing binders, government committee submissions, and other internal and public facing documents, often under the auspices of senior executives and board members. You will provide a wide range of information related to government, legislative/parliamentary, and health policy environments relative to Canadian Blood Services’ strategic priorities. In addition to general health policy monitoring and reporting, a key responsibility will be supporting the Lead, Official Engagement, and the Director in their development of relationships within the governmental and policy sectors.

You will also act as a coordinator/department hub on budgeting and expense reports, booking/planning meetings, and events, and coordinating internal corporate reporting, as required. It is expected that approximately 75 per cent of your time will be spent on analyst activities with the remaining 25 per cent allotted to departmental coordination work.

**Formula for success**
- Harnessing your strong investigative and organizational skills, you will conduct legislative/government and policy-driven research, information gathering and social media monitoring (focusing on political and policy discussions of interest, cabinet shuffles, key dynamics within provincial legislatures and Parliament, standing committee activity, federal/provincial/territorial discussions, etc.) Non-partisan interpretation is required.
- Drawing on your strong interpersonal and communication skills, and leveraging stakeholder management software, you will support relationship development with various elected officials from diverse communities and backgrounds across the country, ensure departmental knowledge of key governmental and policy stakeholders is current and accurate, and help guide internal public-facing staff with elected official engagement.
- Using your attention to detail and ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines, you will deliver accurate and complete electronic briefing binders and other briefing documents supporting executive and board level meetings with elected officials.
- Leveraging your demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organize and manage complex, multiple deliverables simultaneously, you will lead departmental budgeting in collaboration with team members and financial management colleagues, as well as other reporting and logístical duties as required.

**Desired education and skills**
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree from a recognized educational institution, preferably political science, Canadian government, communications, economics, other social sciences, health, or public administration.
- At least three years of relevant work experience in health policy, government, agency, or research setting, preferably within the public sector
- Knowledge of Canadian healthcare and government landscapes (federal and provincial).
