**JOB TITLE: Supervisor - Marine Agency**

Canadian Maritime is the only locally based marine shipping agent for the Come By Chance Refinery in Come By Chance, Newfoundland, and for the Whiffen Head Transhipment facility, a transhipment location for the burgeoning Canadian east coast offshore oil industry.

As a leading Canadian shipping agency, we also attend requirements for the majority of shipping ports in Eastern Canada, Eastern Arctic, the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Great Lakes.

Canadian Maritime offers the advantage of expert multiport capabilities with the ease and convenience of dealing with one agent. The agency can handle a large volume of clients doing business at ports in Eastern Canada. Canadian Maritime is an efficient and competitive agency that provides hands-on, effective service around the clock.

**Position Overview**

This position is located in Come By Chance, Newfoundland.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Provide assistance and support to the Manager and Agents.
- Provide leadership, problem solving, developments and implements new procedures.
- Oversee and complete time sheets, leave requests & vacation approvals.
- Ensures a safe work environment and leads by example.
- Investigate complaints or performance concerns.
- Interpret and ensure the agency are in compliance with regulatory policies and company policies.
- Understand and work within a Union Agreement.
- Quality management representative.
- Cover off agent duties, when required.
- Representing the agency on several different committees.
- Completing job estimates.
- Expediting and arranging customs clearance for imported and exported goods.
- Other duties as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of a post secondary program in a related field such as: marine, logistics, an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience may be considered.
- 3-5 years experience in the marine industry, working knowledge of Canadian Border Services, Transport Canada, Marine Terminal, and Vessel Operations.
- Experience working in a Marine Shipping Agency would be an asset.
- Prior Supervisor experience would be an asset.
- The ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Knowledge or experience working in an ISO 9001-2015 work environment.
- Keen dedication to Health and Safety. Solid organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and act under pressure.
- Strong verbal, written and oral communication skills.
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Flexible to adapt to changing priorities.
- Capable to work under mínimal supervision, independently and as a part of a team.
- Excels as an individual contributor and active team member.
- Able to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline driven, team focused environment.
- Proficient user with MS Office Suite.
