INSTRUCTOR (OCEAN MAPPING)

School of Ocean Technology

Marine Institute

The Marine Institute (MI), a Memorial University of Newfoundland campus, is Canada's most comprehensive centre for education, training, applied research and industrial support for the ocean industries. MI provides more than 20 industry-driven programs ranging from technical certificates to graduate degrees. The Marine Institute consists of three Schools – the School of Ocean Technology, the School of Fisheries, and the School of Maritime Studies, and within these schools are several specialized centres and units that lead in applied research and technology transfer to a variety of industry clients.

The School of Ocean Technology (SOT) promotes the growth of the ocean technology sector through education, training, applied research, technology transfer, and community engagement. The school delivers certificate, diploma, bachelor, and graduate programs to meet this sector's needs, with an underlying focus on key ocean technologies and development areas such as ocean observation and characterization, and vehicle technology. As new technology continues to shape the ocean industries of the future, SOT plays a critical role in educating and training highly qualified people while leading research and development initiatives to support the growth of these industries. This growth is accomplished with industry support and compliance with international accreditation requirements. SOT is accompanied by the Center for Applied Ocean Technology (CTec), which collaborates with industry and others on the development and application of technology for the practical benefit of all sectors of the maritime community.
