Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper

The John Howard Society of Thunder Bay is a community-based, non-profit organization that has been delivery services aimed at supporting individuals that are/have been, or at risk of becoming in conflict with the law, with community integration, through the provision of re-integration services that assist individuals with developing stability and skills to manage and cope, while making positive changes in their lives.

This position will be located at the John Howard Society of Thunder Bay’s main office in Thunder Bay, ON. JHS is looking for an individual to join the JHS team, in the roll of Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper (hybrid).

This position requires attendance/availability to work 3.5 hours daily, Monday to Friday, for a total of 17.5 hours/week. Compensation for this position begins at $21.50/hour, and includes paid sick-time. This position will work as part of the administrative team at JHS, and directly report to the Chief Financial Officer.

**Responsibilities**

This position will be responsible for supporting all administrative tasks and duties for the operation of the John Howard Society of Thunder Bay:

- Keep records that pertain to the organization’s finances
- Administrative tasks such as completing payroll; and recording incoming and outgoing finances
- Record and maintain the organization’s financial transaction(s)
- Record financial data into general ledgers, necessary to produce the balance sheet
- Produce financial statement and other reports for Supervisor
- Perform basic accounting tasks such as processing financial documents
- Assist in annual budget and financial audit process
- Complete data entry as required
- Assist with human resources

**Experience & Qualifications**
- Knowledge of regulations and requirements for financial administration and oversight of businesses/charities/etc.
- Experience working through a full cycle of accounting functions
- Experience using the Simply Accounting/Sage system
- Experience in bookkeeping/accounting functions using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and word processing
- Experience entering data to generate reports
- Post-secondary Degree, Diploma, or Certificate Program, Certification in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Accounting and Finance, etc.
