: BGC Brantford (BGCB) helps children and young people to discover, develop and achieve their best potential by engaging them in activities that challenge and guide them to develop healthy minds and bodies. BGCB programs foster growth and development for one’s social, emotional, and physical wellbeing. The Bookkeeper is responsible for supporting the fiscal integrity and administrative excellence of the Club. Primary responsibilities include: day-to-day financial transactions, supporting the budget and audit process, maintenance of electronic records for vendors and staff members, as well as supporting the various IT, HR, and administrative functions. The Accountant, along with all BGC Brantford employees, exemplifies the Mission, Vision and Value of the Club and demonstrates respect, dignity and confidentiality of children, youth, and their families.

This position is full-time permanent, 37.5hrs/week, regular business hours (e.g., 9am-5pm or 10am-6pm). Due the nature of the Club’s business, staff are asked to have flexibility within their schedule. While general work times are posted, the Club cannot guarantee a defined schedule.

MAJOR DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform timely and accurate processing of all accounts payable and receivable and ensure complete record-keeping.
- Complete staff payroll and ensure compliance with Canada Revenue Agency regulations and timely submission of statutory remittances and filings, including T4 remittance.
- Benefit administration & management for fulltime employees. - Assist the Executive Director with the management of project budgets.
- Provide monthly, and on demand, financial reports to management. - Update BGCB Board of Directors, funders, and key stakeholders on monthly and YTD financial statements.
- Update and maintain financial and operational policies and procedures.
- Support annual audit activities, including report and record preparation, participation in meetings with auditors and implementation of recommendations and adjustments.
- Maintain office operations and organization; communication, equipment and supplies as needed.
- Prepare official donation tax receipts in accordance with CRA Charities Directorate guidelines.
- Knowledge of provincial purchasing guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information on BGCB donors and key stakeholders and ensure stewardship activities are completed in a timely manner.
- Other duties may be assigned.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
**Education**:

- Degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Bookkeeping or equivalent education in a relatable field.

Related Experience:

- 2-3 years’ experience in finance and/or book-keeping, in a small to medium-sized organization.
- Strong, working knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the Broader Public Sector Guidelines.
- Previous work experience in a Canadian charitable and/or municipal environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with, and implementing, various financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Harmony, Paymates, etc.).

Additional Skills:

- Adaptable, diplomatic, self-motivated the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. - Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize competing deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with individuals in all levels in the organization.

JOB CONDITIONS

Physical Demands:

- Occasional lifting of heavy items such as tables, chairs, sporting equipment, etc. may be required to support the Club’s programs and services.

Working Conditions:

- Position works within a climate-controlled facility, however supporting program needs may require will require the position to conduct some job responsibilities in outdoor environments/conditions.
- Due to the large number of children & youth serviced the working environment can be extremely loud during peak hours of operation.
- The environment can be fast paced and demanding - position is required to be extremely resourceful, ‘think quick on their feet’, manage multiply tasks and issues, able to prioritize and resolve issues effectively, thoroughly, and effectively

Pay: $58,000.00-$63,000.00 per year
