John Howard Society of Waterloo-Wellington (JHSWW) is looking for a **Community Justice Coordinator** - _Direct Accountability Program _to join our Adult Services team for a permanent part-time position working 25 hours per week. Applications are being accepted for a permanent part-time (25 hrs/wk) position as a Community Justice Coordinator - Direct Accountability Program (DAP) primarily serving the Guelph area. This position requires working some Saturdays each month. The position also includes working some Saturdays each month. The incumbent will effectively manage a caseload of clients referred to the Direct Accountability Program and will work closely with local Crown Attorney’s Offices, police, and Probation. The incumbent works under the direction of the relevant Senior Coordinator and reports to the Adult Services Program Manager.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct intake interview with referred clients to assess the client’s needs and ensure they understand program requirements
- Assist clients in recognizing strengths and areas of need and in identifying resources to meet their needs
- In collaboration with the client, identify appropriate sanctions that repair harm, address client needs and meet program requirements utilizing a restorative justice philosophy
- Maintain a communication system with the court/police/probation that ensures efficient flow of program/client information from referral through to case closure including timely completion of all reports
- Facilitate Saturday and possible evening crime awareness and prevention workshops as required
- Coordinate well-matched community service placements including providing client and/or agency supports as needed
- Maintain case files, verifications and statistics in accordance with Ministry and Agency standards
- ensure team statistics are reliable, valid and reported in advance of deadline dates
- Work toward achieving service targets;
- Participate in team meetings, site specific staff meetings, and Agency training
- Provide cross coverage to other adult services programs as required
- Perform other agency duties as assigned

**The following are essential skills, abilities and requirements for this position**:

- A Bachelor’s degree in social or health science field with a minimum of three years’ experience in the area of community justice programs based on restorative justice principles
- Member in good standing of a college/regulatory body or eligibility for registration preferred
- Experience working with people to reduce criminogenic thinking and risk factors
- Demonstrated sound judgment and the ability to be decisive in crisis situations, and familiarity with de-escalation techniques
- Strong cross-cultural/diversity perspective/awareness; excellent organizational/time management skills
- Understanding of legal duty to report under the _Child, Youth and Family Services Act_/other relevant legislation
- Knowledge of restorative justice practices, and an understanding of systemic barriers (e.g., poverty, homelessness, substance use, etc.)
- Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office® including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word, EMHWare® and/or other client file management software; internet search tools; DocuSign, and use of platforms (e.g. Zoom) for virtual programming and meetings
- The position requires a reliable vehicle, driver’s license, and insurance.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
