Annapolis Royal, Canada Lawrie Group of Home Hardware Stores Full time

The Supervisor contributes to the Annapolis Home Hardware Building Centre’s success and is responsible for helping in the day-to-day operations during scheduled shifts. This includes overseeing the activities of personnel, building relationships with customers, help to meet store sale targets, have a diverse knowledge of the inventory mix, promotional planning and execution, merchandising, pricing, and facilitating communications between management and employees. The Supervisor performs all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to support store efficiency and a high level of customer service.

Responsibilities/Specific Accountabilities:

- Understand sales and productivity goals for store operations and ensure they are met.
- Assist the Store Manager/Assistant Manager in all aspects of Hardline/LBM (lumber and building materials) store operations, including supervising staff, inventory control, visual merchandising, and customer service.
- Supervise and train staff, ensuring consistent adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with customers, employees, wholesaler/manufacturer representatives, delivery personnel and management.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of products and manage inventory levels.
- Maintain a high level of product knowledge and stay up to date on industry trends
- Assist customers with product selection and provide guidance on proper usage and installation.
- Be proficient with POS (point of sale) and operational software systems and procedures to related purchases.
- Collaborate with store management to develop strategies, promotions and pricing policies.
- Facilitate prompt settlement of any employee or customer complaints and problems.
- Conduct team meetings to discuss problems, review objectives, as well as recognize and celebrate accomplishments.
- Train and coach the team on effective selling techniques, product features and know current promotions.
- Assist in the interviewing process with the aid of the Store Manager/Assistant Manager and/or HR.
- Supervise compliance with Health and Safety Program
- Provide an environment that encourages high employee productivity and morale.
- Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

- Strong interpersonal, organizational, customer service and time management skills
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills
- Proven experience in retail sales (5+ years experience), preferably in a hardware or home improvement setting
- Willingness to learn and develop professional skills
- Knowledge of inventory management principles and practices
- Knowledge of hardware products, tools and equipment
- Knowledge of building materials, construction techniques and industry standards
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders.
- Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store.
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
- Ability to work flexible schedule including Saturdays.

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
