Our Personal Independence practice in Risk Management is looking for an Analyst, Personal Independence, to join our growing team.

The Personal Independence team helps ensure the firm and its personnel are in compliance with professional, regulatory, and KPMG policies and standards.

This role focuses on monitoring for compliance with standards and policies pertaining to personal independence, including those established by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), CPA Code of Professional Conduct (CPA Code)and IESBA Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (IESBA Code).

What you will do:

- Develop an understanding of the applicable independence rules and KPMG internal policies, through reading and interpreting the rules, as well as our internal risk management manual, to effectively evaluate findings from independence assessments.
- Administer KPMG’s Independence Compliance System (KICS), which is a financial interest tracking system, including maintenance of the database of investments and the population of KICS user accounts.
- Complete various monitoring reports, produced weekly, monthly, and quarterly
- Assess, summarize, and escalate potential policy breaches to leadership
- Assist the compliance audit team with conducting personal independence compliance audits, monitor for compliance with firm and professional independence standards.
- Conduct audit procedures to assess compliance with various policies.
- Assist partners and staff with other compliance tasks as required.
- Provide support on ad-hoc project work.
- Assist with the development of other operational/project documentation.

What you bring to this role:

- University/Post-Secondary education in a business, finance, or related field required.
- Completion of Canadian Securities Course preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of financial securities/relationship types.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, diligent, able to respond promptly and professionally to all requests and inquiries.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills with an ability to prioritize and deal with conflicting demands.
- Reliable and dependable, and ability to meet tight deadlines and to work under pressure.
- Takes initiative and has strong organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Proficient with Word, Access.
- Advanced excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot table, macros etc.).
- Strong research skills and resourcefulness.
- The ability to handle sensitive/confidential information appropriately.

**KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information**

The expected base salary range for this position is $46,500 to $70,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
