**About the role**
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a **Manager, Medical Services** to join our dynamic **Medical Laboratory and Stem Cell Services team**.

The **Medical Laboratory and Stem Cell Services team**, the **Medical services and Hospital relations team** is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services in two key areas. Medical services include all medical activities of the blood operator provided by the nursing and medical team including donor assessment, product support, and programs such as Specialized Cells Program, Lookback Traceback program, Transmissible Disease Donor Notification Program, Adverse Transfusion Reaction Reporting.

In this role, you will be responsible for the oversight management and leadership of the administrative aspects of the MAI functions. While the Associate Medical Director remains accountable, you will effectively fully administrate the operations of the medical services. You will manage the administrative and nursing services as applicable, including scheduling and timekeeping. You will oversee the clerical, tactical business management and resource management requirements to ensure targets are met. You will implement and oversee training programs through delegation that support the regional MAI functions. You will be responsible for the overall completion of Performance Planning and Management of direct and indirect reports. You will ensure effective utilization of financial and human resources, including management of regional budgets and staffing requirements. You will also identify efficiency opportunities within the group. You will liaise closely with the other management teams (i.e., Supply Chain, NCC), to enable operational alignment.

**Formula for success**
- Leveraging your ongoing demonstration of leadership skills, you will define administrative operations for the group, which serve the needs of staff and management. Ensure that appropriate resources are assigned to the programs as needed, to ensure efficient and effective workflow.
- You will provide performance planning and performance management of direct and indirect reports.
- Utilizing your excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will collaborate to create, implement, oversee, and review training programs that support these functions.
- Drawing on your continuous growth mindset and understanding of corporate goals, team goal setting, you will initiate and assist with medical services change initiatives, provide, and gather information to support the Change process. Work with Change initiator or Change manager as needed to execute the change. You will liaise with other Change initiatives to ensure adequate medical representation, sufficient resources are assigned to new and ongoing initiatives and that support staff are effectively utilized in order to ensure that goals, objectives, and targets are met.
- Focusing on your excellent presentation and facilitation skills, you will represent the Medical Services department at Site management meetings and National meetings as required.
- Concentrating on your excellent prioritization and organizational skills, you will provide oversight to the Medical Services Program Coordinators in monitoring medical office programs; make suggestions and proposals to changes to improve efficiency, as required. This includes current Lookback/Traceback programs, as well, any ongoing or future special programs or projects that require MAI support resources. Examples include the HLA matched platelet program, TRALI testing, rare blood program, etc.
