**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
Under the direction of the Project Manager, Ecosystem Management, the Coordinator is responsible for the technical advice, coordination of projects, budgets, project plans and promotes the delivery of TRCA’s reforestation programs on both private and public lands. These programs are delivered in partnership with the local Regional Municipalities through various initiatives.
This position works directly with other funding agencies to help promote tree planting initiatives within TRCA’s watersheds and acts as a resource and provides oversight to implementation staff and/or contractors to ensure quality control. Maintains effective partnerships and communications with internal and external client groups. Overall, this position plays an integral role in meeting regional and municipal tree planting goals and objectives.
Project Planning
- Develop detailed planting plans for reforestation projects, forest enhancements, buffer plantings and trees and shrub projects on public, private and partnership lands
- Procure materials and services
- Provide technical support and coordination on project development; plan design; internal, external and public consultations; permit acquisition; work plan development; budget preparation; and cost control
- Research landowners, public lands, partner properties, and non-traditional urban or near urban opportunities, to assess reforestation, canopy, and tree and shrub planting opportunities
- Plan and develop project plans and implementation estimate for approval
- Meet with landowners and project partners to develop projects, discuss proposals, and gain approval
- Conduct on-site assessment and reforestation plan development
- Seek all approvals, and permits including, TRCA, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Niagara Escarpment Development Permit, and Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry approvals
- Work with Regional, Municipal, provincial and federal partners on coordinated strategies, plans, bylaws and initiatives
- GIS and environmental analysis to develop planting plans and strategies
- Development of project plans including planting plans, budgets, workplans, invoices, internal billings, project completion reports.
- Prepare accurate budget estimates for individual projects to secure payment for landowners and monitor TRCA expenditures
- Prepare invoices for landowners and funding agencies
Promotion, Marketing, and Communications
- Work internally with marketing, to promote site specific and general TRCA programs applicable to landowners, through mail-outs, advertisements, and working with NGOs
- Participate in regional and municipal events to promote TRCA tree planting programs
- Coordinate communication strategies with project partners, neighbouring Conservation Authority’s, Regional and local Municipalities, and the public
- Presentations to working groups, NGO’s, Woodlot Associations committees, ect
- Conduct landowner outreach through direct personal contact, mail outs, and media advertising
- Maintain effective liaison with other agencies, community groups, NGO’s, private landowners, and the general public, in coordination with the RMP project managers and the forester
- Coordinate, plan, deliver and conduct planting and stewardship events in coordination with partners, NGO’s and the general public.
- Work with social media teams to create content for social posts, newspaper ads, blogs, newsletters, online forums, interviews, corporate website
Project Implementation
- Ensure implementation compliance, through on-site visits and inspections
- Ensure quality control through tree planting quality assessments, nursery stock compliance, and project plan compliance
- Follow up with project assessments and reporting to funding agencies
- Conduct follow up site visits with landowners to ensure customer satisfaction
- Maintain and update client database and program records to organize program participants and assess program efficiency for private lan
