**Overview**

As we move through a period of exciting transformation and organizational change, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) has an immediate opening for a **Technical Writer**.

Under the authority of the _Professional Engineers Act_, PEO licenses and governs over 91,500 licence and certificate holders and regulates the practice of professional engineering in Ontario. PEO’s mission is to regulate and advance the practice of engineering to protect the public interest. With a talented, multidisciplinary staff of over 100, PEO’s vision is to be a trusted leader in professional self-regulation.

**Position Summary**

This position will act as a liaison between the business and technical development teams to deliver technical documentation and associated workflows that align with current system functionality; and to develop IT Policies that align with industry best practices. The Technical Writer will work with the IT team to gather details, coordinate IT projects to deliver upon the Digital Transformation roadmap, and develop documentation to improve productivity, support knowledge transfer and mitigate risks.

**Responsibilities**
- Support the Digital Transformation roadmap through management of IT-specific projects and documentation of IT policies.
- Responsible for creating technical system and operational documentation to build a knowledge base for the IT team.
- Prepare documentation for operational procedures and system maintenance procedures.
- Troubleshooting strategies for technologies leveraged by PEO by researching technical documents, interviewing technical resources, and compiling data into a clear, easy to follow knowledge base.
- Conduct detailed business analysis, outlining requirements for technology projects in support of the Digital Transformation roadmap.
- Track assigned projects and provide/update regular reports on project status to Director and key stakeholders.
- Evaluate business processes, conduct environmental scans, and develop IT policies in alignment with best practices.
- Conducting meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Proven professional writing skills.
- Ability to simplify complex technical language.
- Strong understanding of technology systems and processes
- Strong time management skills and ability to work well under pressure within changing/competing deadlines and time constraints.
- Project coordination experience would be an asset.

Education/Qualifications:

- Post secondary education in IT, Business, English, Communications or a relevant program.
- Minimum 3+ years progressive experience preparing technical documentation.
- Business Analysis certification preferred.
