Saskatoon Student Child Care is an organization that encompasses three licensed child care facilities: Sharon Van Cleave Child Care (a 22 space infant and toddler centre), Royal West Early Learning Centre (a 50 space infant, toddler and preschool centre), and the Saskatoon Early Childhood Education Demonstration Centre (a 64 space infant, toddler and preschool centre).

Overview of the Role of Inclusion Coordinator

The role of the Inclusion Coordinator is to support the holistic development in the children in our care through the following duties:

- Observe and document children’s development
- Implement development screens and checklists (i.e. ASQ)
- Mentor / coach staff in their ECE practices to ensure children’s development is being focused on in the best ways possible (ie. Coaching/mentoring staff with child guidance strategies, speech and language strategies, implementing inclusive practices in program planning etc)
- Investigate concerns observed by ECEs, families or yourself regarding children’s development (i.e. possible delays in development, challenging behaviours, etc.)
- Work in partnership with the Parent Program Coordinator to ensure goals and expectations of the Parent Support Program as per children’s needs are being met and implemented comprehensively at Sharon Van Cleave and Royal West Early Learning Centre
- Liaise with external support services (i.e. SLP services, BSC services) to implement programming and support for children in need. This includes (but not limited to) coordinating time for referring professionals to visit; helping coordinate appointments for families with supporting professionals; ensuring individual program plans for children are in place and being implemented among staff
- Provide centre rooms with enhanced staff support as appropriate for the needs of that room (modelling of and coaching sessions for practices and strategies to use)
- Communicate and liaise with staff and leadership team, families and all partners to ensure goals and expectations for inclusion are being understood and implemented comprehensively in the program
- Seek, Develop, Use tools and resources (i.e. communication cards, social stories, workshops, resource material) to support staff in their ece practice to meet the needs of children individually, and especially for children requiring additional support.
- Seek professional development to remain current with inclusive practices in ECE
- Support implementation of training for staff to ensure their professional development is current (i.e. help coordinate training for ASQ, Teacher Talk, schema theory, different themes of play (i.e. play where children seek power; risky play; exploration with sexual development, etc.)
- Facilitate group times (and/or liaise with Parent Program Coordinator and Centre Director to do the same) for staff and / or families regarding child development, play, inclusive curriculum
- Liaise with SSCCS Leadership team members to establish and meet goals and priorities for each Centre.

In addition to understanding developmentally appropriate practice, inclusive practice and sound early childhood education theory; the Inclusion Coordinator should also be knowledgeable with the effects of neglect, poverty, substance abuse, trauma and crises overall on development of the child and its impact on the family. It is imperative the Inclusion Coordinator competent in supporting clientele in a bias-free manner.

The Inclusion Coordinator will serve families at Royal West Early Learning Centre primarily and initially. Expectation would be that once the Inclusion Coordinator is settled into their role at Royal West ELC, they would then begin coordinate support at Sharon Van Cleave Child Care Centre and it is a goal that the Inclusion Coordinator would eventually provide support to all 3 Centres in the future.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum of a diploma in early childhood education or ECE Level III equivalent
- Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Current Driver’s License
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification, Level C
- Membership in professional organization
- Recent relevant experience in similar/related position (1-2 years preferred)
- Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills are a must; ability to establish rapport and excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities
- Experience and sensitivity in working with youth, young families, crises of all kinds
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy
- Leadership skills
- Certification with MBTI/DiSC training or like an asset

**Job Type**: Permanent

**Salary**: $24.68-$26.57 per hour
