**The Role**:
The LRT Expansion and Renewal Branch is responsible for the planning, designing, and delivery of LRT infrastructure and major capital expansion projects. LRT Expansion and Renewal turns vision into reality through ongoing stakeholder engagement and by providing excellent project management and technical services. The end result is enhanced by the knowledge and relationships achieved with corporate business partners, industry, and other stakeholders.

Reporting to the Director, Valley Line, the General Supervisor is responsible for leading the team that manages all technical aspects of project delivery for each of the contracts within the Valley Line program. The General Supervisor works across the multiple technical disciplines and provides strong support and adherence to the Sustainable Urban Integration (SUI) Principles embedded in the project contracts.

**Goals and deliverables**:

- Supervise a team of Engineering Program Managers and Engineering Project Managers
- Overseeing the work of the Owner’s Engineer (OE) and other technical advisors, including contract administration of the OE Professional Services Agreement and any other technical advisors Professional Services Agreements
- Act as the City’s lead technical representative for each of the contracts within the Valley Line program
- Oversee the quality audit process for each of the contracts within the Valley Line Program
- Ensure that the design Submittal review process is being followed.
- Oversee transportation related reviews, as required by the Project Agreements and providing input into monitoring of lane closures and transit impacts
- Ensure the prudent and effective use of financial and human resources in the planning and delivery of work
- Maintain effective communication with senior management and key stakeholders on projects status, issues and milestones
- Focus on the team by building a respectful workplace culture through a values-based influencer approach and working collaboratively
- Participate in the mediation of complex issues involving internal staff and external stakeholders including the public, contractors and consultants. Effectively manage and foresee risks before they arise
- Anticipate business opportunities, influence policy, planning and initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability through performance measurement
- Build new and innovative collaborative partnerships with external agencies, orders of government, community organizations, and internal departments and branches

**Qualifications**:
** What does success look like?**
- Utilize education and/or training in Engineering or other related disciplines. A Master’s Degree in a related field is considered an asset
- A Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is required. P.Eng requires the member to be in good standing with APEGA
- PMP certification is considered an asset
- Leverage experience in leadership roles within a large and complex organization
- Utilize experience in the delivery of transit projects and/or major linear infrastructure projects in an urban environment
- Meet deadlines, work effectively under public pressure, negotiate and resolve conflicts
- Collaborate and build trust, obtain input, understanding, and participation from staff
- Create a work culture capable of developing a high performing team
- Leverage a strong comprehension and experience relating to all aspects of project management
- Utilize experience managing and working with contractors
- Think strategically to address large, complex issues, to manage projects while steering dynamically
