Operations Control Center

**TransEd Valley line LRT is looking for an OCC Manager to join their team of Rail Professionals. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the OCC Manager will be responsible for all aspects of day-to-day OCC operations, required to provide passengers with safe, effective, and efficient transit service.**
**Who We Are**
TransEd Valley Line LRT is the first piece of the Valley Line project in Edmonton. Connecting Millwoods to downtown Edmonton, the Valley Line allows commuters to go from the South East of Edmonton to any where the LRT stops.
**A typical day for the OCC Line Controller**
- Exercises leadership and supervision over OCC personnel and activities of the Operations Control Centre.
- Manages OCC Operations through planning, developing, organizing, delegating, and carrying out OCC projects required to ensure that safe, effective, and efficient transit service is provided to the passengers.
- Establishes performance objectives for all OCC personnel in partnership with the Deputy Operations Manager, ensuring that all employees understand these objectives, monitoring and reporting on performance against these objectives, and developing remedial plans when required to ensure that performance objectives are met.
- Monitors OCC staffing requirements. Responsible for hiring, continuous evaluation, improvement plans, training and discipline administration for OCC personnel as required.
- Develops training programs and identifies training requirements within OCC and larger operations team.
- Continuously develops and refines OCC Operations systems and procedures to improve the efficiency of Operations.
- Ensures that Operations employees adhere to all rules.
- Works with Deputy Operations Manager to develop and implement policies and procedures for normal operations, failure management and emergency response.
- Investigates all incident/accident reports involving real or potential threats to passenger or employee health or safety, reports fully on these events to the Deputy Operations Manager and ensures that all appropriate measures are implemented to prevent or minimize the reoccurrence of such events.
- Partners with Safety team and HR for union and non-union investigations and hearings as required.
- Participates in daily business meetings as required and works with other departments to ensure matters of mutual concern are promptly addressed and resolved.
- Ensures that the proper image of the TransEd LRT is represented to customers through the conduct of all OCC employees.
- Reviews working instructions, rule book sections and other SOPs regularly.
- Oversees all OCC reporting requirements and ensures that OCC staff are trained to complete related tasks.
- Performs other related duties as required.
**What you will bring to the team**
- Graduation from an accredited College or University with a bachelor’s or related degree in Transportation Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Recent experience as a supervisor/manager of a rapid transit operational function is an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly attain a thorough knowledge of the TransEd LRT operation rules and regulations, operations plans and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements; ability to lead and manage all the diverse control centre personnel and functions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in English; ability to maintain a rapport with employees and other personnel. Excellent sense of time and priority.
