**Responsibilities**

Reporting to the Senior Manager - Commercial the Associate - Commercial [HM1] will be responsible for:

- Financial evaluation of strategic growth initiatives through ground-up analysis, to assist the Executive Leadership Team in understanding key strategic opportunities and operating and financial metrics
- Financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and reporting, including analysis and production of regular business development and financial reports for the board/senior management
- Conducting feasibility analysis for the technical, commercial, and regulatory aspects of business growth and project opportunities
- Evaluating different power markets with respect to power prices and grid connection opportunities
- Supporting the commercial negotiations and development activities for identified projects, with a focus on securing land, permitting and grid connection activities
- Engaging with project stakeholders during the development phase, including landowners, transmission service operators, and local councils
- Assisting in the procurement and negotiation of power supply contracts and connection agreements for projects
- Assisting with the development of construction/equipment supply tenders and associated commercial discussions
- Assisting with the negotiation and execution of construction/equipment supply agreements
- Providing research for presentations and analysis on key issues facing the business
- Assisting the team by analysing commercial metrics on various potential M&A opportunities
- Supporting the due diligence and commercial negotiations for new business development opportunities and M&A activities
- Drafting, as required, relevant documents including investor and board presentations, monthly and quarterly reports

**Desired Skills, Qualifications and Competencies include**:

- Degree in Finance/Economics/Commerce/Engineering
- 4-6 years’ experience in commercial, corporate development or banking including exposure to:

- Investment banking, project finance, infrastructure funds management
- Infrastructure valuations, infrastructure advisory
- Corporate or project development
- Financial modelling
- Previous experience in building detailed financial/ valuation/ M&A models
- Exposure to earned value management and developing effective executive reports and dashboards
- Background or qualification in Engineering, Project Management and/or related construction experience would be seen as an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills

**What's on offer**:

- Salary range: CAD $80,000 to $120,000, depending on experience

**Other Internal Information**:

- **Location**: Downtown Vancouver
- **Schedule**: Flexibility in working hours will be required at this stage of growth due to operating across multiple countries/ time zones.
- **Travel requirements**: Occasional travel as required to Canadian operations (Prince George, Mackenzie, and Canal Flats), US Operations in Childress, Texas and select conferences/ events.
- **Internal Stakeholders**: Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Operations Officer, Senior Executive Assistants, Executive Leadership Team, Site Teams, Project Teams, Functional Leads
