**Position Overview**
**VP Advancement** is currently seeking a Full-time Regular **Marketing and Communications Specialist**.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications, the Marketing & Communications Specialist will work closely with members of the Advancement team to provide efficient and effective communication and event coordination support for internal clients. Additionally, they will be integral to supporting the marketing and media ad-buying programs needed to support the institutional marketing strategy.
**Position Description**
**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Accountabilities for this position include the successful coordination and facilitation of a wide range of client events, and the prioritization and delivery of associated communication support within Advancement. The nature of the work performed provides an opportunity for the incumbent to demonstrate problem-solving abilities and increase responsibility through initiative, self-motivation, and professional development
- In coordination with the Advancement-Strategic Events team, effectively plans, organizes and facilitates a wide variety of events and internal/external activities for client departments
- Work with the members of the Advancement team to support the implementation of strategic initiatives through communications and events that meet desired client outcomes
- Develop communication plans with clients for strategic initiatives, and coordinate their implementation
- Assist in the logístical and strategic requirements of events such as promotional material development and delivery, facility booking/coordination and stakeholder collaboration/organization
- Coordinate photography, graphic design, audio/video production, and social media activities for events as required
- Other tasks as needed to support client initiatives
- In consultation with the Advancement team and clients, gathers and compiles information related to various initiatives for distribution through websites, articles, and other communications materials
- Write articles, website and social media copy, print collateral, and other communications products
- Update and maintain various client website content
- Maintain group mailing lists and manages updates
- Create print and digital collateral, in alignment with university brand standards
**Qualifications / Requirements**:
- A university degree in business, marketing, communications or a related field, combined with experience in marketing and communications,
- Minimum of 4 years of related working experience
- Minimum of 4 years of experience developing cutting-edge and relevant social content that drives engagement
- Proven experience in producing a variety of communication materials, including web-based communications, aimed at various audiences
- Proven experience in digital media buying for social changes and Google Ad ( GDN, YouTube), public relations or general communications
- A strong writer and editor, able to produce high-quality content and ad copy on short deadlines
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud
- Knowledge of the university environment and core university systems is an asset
- Strong communication, consultative and problem-solving skills, and ability to work with cross-functional teams effectively
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and facilitate collaboration between diverse groups
- High level of tact and professionalism
- Ability to act decisively and to exercise a high degree of initiative and judgment in a fast-paced environment, with constantly shifting priorities
- Attention to detail is a must
- A proven ability to work under stressful and tight deadlines while working with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders
