**Position Profile**
The Black Business Initiative (BBI) is the longest serving Black business development initiative in Canada. We work to address the unique needs confronting Black businesses in Atlantic Canada and to build the community capacity of Black communities across Canada. Since its inception, our organization has grown to be a catalyst for job creation, equitable participation, and advancing economic prosperity across Canada.
In an era where data stands as an invaluable resource, we are looking to welcome a Data Analyst to our organization. This role will be pivotal in enhancing our data operations, enabling us to harness our data's full potential to strengthen our internal processes and create value for the businesses, organizations, and communities we serve.
This is a term position with an end date of March 31, 2025.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Work closely with project teams and the Entrepreneurship Department to strengthen the quality of client data in Salesforce.
- Work closely with all teams to understand and implement Salesforce customization needs.
- Develop and implement data collection and data quality procedures.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
- Create and maintain automated reports and dashboards for key performance metrics.
- Contribute to data visualization efforts to effectively communicate findings to stakeholders.
**Position Requirements**
The following qualifications and competencies are required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Entrepreneurship, or a related discipline.
- An understanding of fundamental data management concepts and techniques.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, as well as data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- Proficiency in MS Excel.
- Strong analytical mindset.
- Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining data accuracy and integrity.
- Effective communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
- Problem-solving skills to tackle data-related challenges and provide creative solutions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of the experiences of Black businesses and communities in Canada, or a willingness to learn.
