**The Team**:Plant Youth

Planet Youth is an international prevention model proven to reduce substance use rates amongst young people and positively impact other life and health outcomes. Planet Youth addresses the risk and protective factors within young people's social and cultural environments. This includes an emphasis on families, peer groups, the role of schools, and leisure time.

The working vision of Planet Youth Calgary is to enhance the wellbeing and resilience of local youth, empowering them to live their best life. Calgary is the first city in Western Canada to implement this approach and the first in our country to include an Indigenous parallel, honouring both Indigenous and Western ways of knowing, being, and doing. Planet Youth Calgary is a partnership between United Way Calgary and Area, Alberta Health Services, Calgary Police Youth Foundation, Centre for Sexuality, The City of Calgary, Miskanawah, PolicyWise for Children and Families, Trellis, and the YMCA.

In Calgary, we are launching a five-year Planet Youth pilot program in four communities: Saddletowne (Saddle Ridge), Thorncliffe (Huntington Hills), Forest Lawn and Shawnessy. Focusing on the importance of mental health and creating positive connections, we will work collaboratively to ensure local youth are supported to live their best life.

**The Role**:Planet Youth Manager - Full Time
- Monday to Friday from 8:30am - 4:30pm with occasional evenings and weekends

**The Community**:Saddle Ridge (Saddletowne)

Saddle Ridge is a diverse community with many new Canadians calling it home. With over 22,000 residents, it is the city's third-largest community and home to the Genesis Centre for Community Wellness. The Genesis Centre serves as a gathering place for over 1.2 million visitors each year. Residents have access to recreation, fitness, educational and wellness services throughout the Centre include Trellis programming for youth and community.

**What You'll Bring to The Role**:

- Degree or Diploma in Human Services Field, equivalent education and experience will be considered
- Ability to work independently - a self-starter
- Experience working on interdisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with community development approaches/principles
- Experience implementing a community development approach an asset
- At least 3-5 years' leadership experience in a senior role
- An understanding of key principles of positive youth development and at least 1-3 years' experience working with youth
- Professional, collaborative approach to leadership
- Strong cross-cultural communication skills and intercultural competencies
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification
- Able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector search and clear Intervention Record Check dated within the last six months
- Knowledge and experience working within the Saddle Ridge community would be considered an asset
