As the Leader, Youth and Senior Services, you will provide leadership and oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of youth employment and senior services. You are dedicated to continuous improvement and aspire to enhance the lives of children, youth and seniors through the delivery and implementation of youth employment, career services and senior home maintenance program with social outcomes. Primary duties include:

Provide strategic leadership of the section including direct involvement with business unit, department, and corporate policies, plans, and initiatives. Develop strategic program frameworks which will include social outcomes, measures and reporting to ensure effective service delivery systems that focus on meeting citizen needs while ensuring operational decisions are based on available budget. Lead and develop a team of staff ensuring effective team dynamics to achieve goals and business unit initiatives. Conduct human resource functions such as recruitment, performance management, mentoring, and career development. Foster and build community, partner and funder relationships and ensure all contractual obligations are met. Monitor and report on section or division performance measures and funder agreement outcomes. Respond to City Council inquiries when necessary and formulate effective strategic responses through appropriate reporting mechanisms.  Qualifications  A degree in Human Services, Social Work, Social Sciences, Public Administration or any related field with at least 7 years of related leadership experience that includes supervision of staff in related areas like youth employment, career development and senior services. Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered. An understanding of the needs of youth and seniors and trends impacting demographics is an asset. Previous experience working with a reimbursement model between two levels of government and third-party service providers is an asset. Experience working with senior administration and political leaders is an asset. Success in this position will requires:Good leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to develop and motivate others.Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, and ability to respond to emerging challenges.Excellent communication and negotiation skills combined with relationship-building abilities.
