Asphalt Screed Operator

DeFord Contracting Inc. is looking for an _experienced and hardworking _**Asphalt Screed Operator **for Civil Construction city projects in and around the Greater Edmonton Area.

**Responsibilities**:

- Safely operate asphalt screed and/or paver in accordance with Foreman/Forewomen/Superintendent’s instructions and specifications.
- Make adjustments to operation/machine to achieve desired depth, grade, and finish.
- Able to work with machine in tight areas, and operate without risk.
- Coordinate, discuss, and plan procedures and project with paving crew.
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
- Perform additional tasks as instructed by Foreman/Forewomen and Superintendent.

**Qualifications**:

- Operate the screed/paver and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
- 2+ years’ experience operating Screed.
- 3+ years’ experience in Road construction/Paving - **experience** working in **civil construction is considered an asset.**:

- _**Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers License.**_
- Ability to perform tasks with mínimal supervision.
- Good knowledge of City surrounding areas.
- Some computer skills needed.
- Certifications and/or licenses appropriate to industry.
- Reliable transportation and a positive attitude.
- Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.
- Knowledge of Paving materials, and Paving processes and industry requirements.
- Knowledge of Screeds and other heavy equipment.

- Paving: 3 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Driver's licence & reliable transportation (required)
