We are currently looking for a
**GIS Technician** to join our GIS team in a permanent position. This role will report to the GIS Specialist, Operational Technology.

**As a member of the GIS Team, you will**:

- Be responsible for leading in training and troubleshooting within the GIS group.
- Interface with the Operational Technology team and provide necessary services to support the safe and reliable operation of Nova Scotia Power's province wide distribution system.
- You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.

**What skills will make you successful?**

You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

- Graduation from a Community College with a GIS certificate and/or an advanced diploma in GIS.
- Experience with geographic information systems and a good understanding and knowledge of electric utility distribution feeder systems is required.
- Previous experience with a geometric network or a utility network would be considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and negotiating skills are required.
- Project Management skills would be considered a valuable asset. You must possess a valid driver’s license.
