**What You Will Do**

You will be joining the Conservation team in your role of wetland conservation technician with a regional focus on Halifax Regional Municipality and occasionally Nova Scotia at large. Your primary responsibility will be to support the Conservation Programs Specialist in wetland conservation initiatives in HRM. This will take the form of assisting in conducting wetland assessments, wetlands and policy research, compiling reports and educational materials, and planning and assisting in the delivery of fieldwork and special events. You may also occasionally assist DUC staff in other program areas related to education, outreach, communications, and wetland restoration. This role will include a variety of project activities and learning opportunities.

**Requirements**:

- Available for work from June 19th to September 8th 2023.
- May require occasional evening/weekend work.
- Must have a passion for conservation and the environment.
- Practical field skills and understanding of basic biology, local species, and ecosystems would be considered an asset.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and oral and written communication skills in English.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- In progress (or completed) post secondary program in an ecology, environment or sustainability related field would be considered an asset.
- Basic GIS skills are an asset.

**Position Details**: Summer Student (June - Sept)
**Salary Range**: $18/hr. Salary is based on a 35-hour work week.
