**The Opportunity**:
As Community Connector you will join a working group made up of city and regional staff to help enable diverse community perspectives to participate in the consultation process of the Charles Street Terminal visioning process. This role is an 18-month contract with an anticipated start date of Monday, March 6th, 2023. Hours of work are estimated at 6 hours/month however project programming may dictate additional hours required.

You will attend working sessions to provide feedback on the community engagement consultation strategy.

You will review findings from community outreach and provide insight into interpretation of feedback.

You will participate in community engagement sessions as an advisor or facilitator.

You will actively encourage participation from broader community and distinct stakeholder groups.

You will review terms of reference for technical studies to inform the future vision for Charles Street Site.

You will produce written or oral feedback to guide the process and direction of the work, and ultimately in support of the recommendation presented to Council.

You will share community feedback, concerns, and questions with regional and city staff.

You will assist in the review and development of educational and informational resources and materials.

You identify as a member of at least one priority community (persons with disabilities, members of a 2SLGBTQ+ community, person who is food/housing insecure, a member of a Black community, member of an Indigenous community or another racialized community)/OR/AND you have experience or expertise in one of the following areas: equity, diversity and inclusion, business and entrepreneurship, small business enterprise, sustainable technologies, and design (i.e. architecture), housing provider, real estate development.

Preference will be given to those who demonstrate experience in more than one of the above criteria.

You should have experience and/or demonstrated interest in community-based work.

Organizations can nominate a representative on their behalf.

Must be a resident of the Region of Waterloo.

Preference may be given to those who live, work, own a business or spend time in downtown Kitchener.

Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, and related legislation.

Ability to understand community members’ concerns, feedback, and issues and be able communicate this clearly to regional and city staff.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to work varied hours to accommodate events, including evenings and weekends.

Ability to support and demonstrate the regions and community’s values.
