**Overview**:
**Hours/Schedule**:
This is a part-time role, suitable for a contractor (who has other bookkeeping or payroll clients) or an individual who seeks a reduced work-week with flexibility.

Payroll is processed on a bi-weekly basis (2 days, 5-7 hours x Monday & Tuesday, every two weeks). Payroll reports, benefits administration and filing can be completed on alternating weeks (5-7 hours x two days per week, every two weeks), with flexibility. Total hours would be 10-14 hours per week, year-round. GV will have approximately 35-50 staff members in 2023.

**Duties**:

- Work in respect and support of GV’s core values: inclusion, integrity and innovation
- Contribute to a warm and student-friendly atmosphere within the school; promote a positive school spirit among staff and students.
- Liaise with Supervisors on payroll and benefits-related matters
- Prepare payroll related journal entries
- Maintain reports and spreadsheets for tracking payroll figures, contract renewal dates, vacation accruals, etc.
- Coordinate employee benefits plan (forms, registration, payment, info kits) and liaise with insurance carriers
- Participate in annual policy review meeting with Instructor group
- Make presentations or short workshops on topics that support employee group to become more familiar with recurring payroll and benefits processes, like on-line time tracking, vacation requests, T4 on-line access steps, etc., and in accessing their employee benefits, including but not limited to EAP.
- Work with Management & Leadership Team on process improvement and the development of an Admin Employee Policy Handbook (modelled after the Instructor Policy Handbook).
- Upon request, assist with backlog of bookkeeping duties and provide vacation coverage for Manager of Finance & Administration

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of post-secondary education leading to Level II of the Canadian Payroll Association's Payroll Management Certificate Program
- At least five years' payroll and benefits administration experience
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems and internal controls
- Demonstrate excellent work ethic and customer-service relations with staff, public, and students while using diplomacy and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information;
- Strong organization and time management skills to manage deadline-driven work and to accommodate special projects on an as-needed basis;
- Ability to maintain periods of intense concentration within an active school environment;
- Must be very exact with figures and calculations, and be proficient with the computer

Ability to use a variety of software including MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook and other web-based software.
