**About the position**

**Responsibilities include**
- Provide written commentary on research information making buy/sell/hold recommendations;
- Build and maintain detailed financial models for metals and mining companies;
- Conduct company, industry, and macro-economic research;
- Have an ability to analyze and evaluate financial statements;
- Keep up to date with market developments, new investment products and all other areas that can affect the markets, e.g. movements in the economies of relevant countries;
- Liaise with sales and trading (both institutional and retail), external institutional clients, and corporate finance to help provide industry and investment insight;
- Prepare research reports for publication which focus on pertinent news and events, and subsequent implications on buy/sell/hold recommendations and target prices;
- Monitor the financial news using specialist media sources and company financials;
- Attend site visits.

**Education & Qualifications**
- Bachelors or higher degree(s) in fields preferably related to Geology, Engineering, Finance or Business, or other quantitative disciplines;
- 5+ years relevant work experience in Equity Research, the mining sector, or the financial industry;
- Excellent PC skills in the Microsoft Office suite, as well as in sourcing internet-based data;

- Strong organizational skills and analytical skills - must be able to multi-task efficiently;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively, as required for departmental publications;
- Ability to work in a demanding, pressurized and fast-paced work environment, sometimes for extended periods of time;
- Commitment to timelines and attention to detail is crucial;
- Willingness and ability to travel.

**Job Details**

**Status**: Permanent full-time

**Location**: Vancouver. This job requires travel.

**Schedule**: Monday to Friday with overtime as needed.

**Compensation**: Base salary $100,000 per annum plus quarterly bonuses. Total compensation weighted heavily on the quarterly bonuses.
