**About Us**:
The Department of Paediatrics and Children's Hospital has 64 general paediatric beds, 46 neonatal beds and a very active emergency department. The Department of Paediatrics in London has over 100 faculty members, 40 trainees, and provides a full array of Paediatric sub-specialty services. The Children’s Hospital has a Quality and Safety Committee and has formed partnerships within various international quality improvement initiatives. The department has 5 basic scientists as core members and numerous opportunities exist for clinical, epidemiological, translational, and basic science research.

**Responsibilities**:

- The Financial Assistant will be accountable for the implementation of daily financial transactions within the Department of Paediatrics, in accordance with Western’s financial, payroll, procurement and funding agency policies, procedures and guidelines. The role will facilitate the administration of travel expenses, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll requisition functions, and will research and resolve a variety of complex internal and external inquiries related to financial processes. The Financial Assistant will provide support and assistance for budget development and financial year-end processes, and will create graphs and contribute to the development of reports to assist with financial decision making. The role will be accountable for supporting research account transactions, and for assisting with the preparation of financial statements and reports in compliance with granting agency guidelines.**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- Community College Diploma in an administrative field

**Experience**:
- 1 year of experience providing customer service in a business office setting

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

- Knowledge of general office procedures and accounting principles and practices
- Ability to ensure expenditures and resources are within allotments, and to make appropriate modifications as required
- Ability to explain financial information, policies and procedures effectively to individuals who may have little financial knowledge
- Detail oriented with an ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
- Communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner and adapt communication style to suit the situation and the audience
- Customer service skills with a desire to achieve results in a timely manner
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and follow through on work assignments
- Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with people in professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Ability to provide guidance and support to ensure compliance with processes in a way that is positively received
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate internal and external policies, guidelines and practices to stakeholders
- Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office, including spreadsheet design, word processing and database management
