At CHA, we believe that stable, secure, accessible, and affordable housing is foundational to healthy individuals, families, and communities. We work to increase affordable housing options and to reduce homelessness in the Cowichan region through research, community development, homelessness prevention programming, and facilitating affordable housing development.

**About the Role**

The Cowichan Coalition Coordinator (CCC) will coordinate the re-invigoration of the Cowichan Coalition to End Homelessness (CCEH), which was originally formed in 2017. Applicants should have knowledge of the organizations that respond to homelessness within the Cowichan Region. Applicants should also value building and maintaining relationships with community partners and enjoy convening a wide range of people.

This is a part-time temporary position that may be extended based on available funding. At this time, the role will run from **September 5th, 2023, to July 31st, 2024,** and will be **28 hours/week at $30/hour**. Scheduling can be flexible, but wherever possible, should align with CHA office hours. The CCC will report to the Executive Director and will work collaboratively with CHA staff and a wide range of community partners.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Work with CHA staff, municipal partners, organizations that respond to homelessness, and local First Nations to support the formal re-invigoration of the CCEH.
- Establish the Coalition membership, including Indigenous and non-Indigenous co-chairs.
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to CCEH committees and/or adjacent working groups, as per a strategy that will be agreed upon collaboratively.
- Work with CHA’s Coordinated Access team to ensure the two projects are working in collaboration to achieve their mutual goals.
- Represent the CCEH in community to enhance profile and awareness.
- Create, maintain, and deepen strategic partnerships with all local organizations and communities including Indigenous organizations and Nations within the CVRD.
- Create, update, and maintain realistic work plans.
- Administrative duties including, but not limited to, member recruitment, planning Coalition meetings, meeting minutes, drafting Terms of Reference and project reports, monitoring and project evaluation.
- Forecast, plan, and identify project resource requirements.
- Work to secure funding and other resources for long term sustainable operations of the CCEH.

**Education and Experience**
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in health or social sciences.
- Experience fostering strong, respectful working relationships with local First Nations to ensure their voices are amplified in the creation of the Coalition’s membership, structure, processes, vision, and goals.
- Knowledge of the social barriers and challenges that contribute to an individual’s or family’s entrance into and/or persistent homelessness.
- Experience working with community members experiencing homelessness.
- Possess an understanding of Indigenous homelessness.
- Experience working on solutions related to issues of poverty, homelessness, mental health, and/or substance use.
- Experience working with cross-sectoral teams, particularly all levels of government, non-profit organizations, and Indigenous agencies.
- Experience coordinating the efforts of multiple groups and concurrently managing a variety of complex tasks/projects.
- Experience in making formal presentations and in appropriately communicating information to a variety of stakeholders.

**Skills and Abilities**
