**Kitchen Lead - Food Recovery Program**
- A Better Life Foundation is a charity devoted to improving the lives of our community using food as a tool of connection to uplift, improve and nourish the people we serve. We provide daily meals, training, and education, practice inclusive hiring and take climate change actions to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most since 2013_
- As part of our commitment to sustainable practices, we developed a food recovery program, diverting literal tons of edible food from local grocery stores, yet headed to the landfill, and redistributing them through our meal programs and to other community groups. Since June 2020, _we have _saved over 108 metric tonnes of perfectly good food from being wasted and offset 191,268 kg of Carbon_

**The Role**:
Executive Director.

**Location**:Save On Meats (43 West Hastings St.)
**Hours**:35 hours per week
**Rate**:$20-$25/hour, depending on experience

**Duties Include**:

- Preparing delicious and nutritious meals from the donated items and any leover food from the Daily Meal Program operations.
- Completing food production tasks as directed and in a timely manner for their distribution to our program partners.
- Collecting, sorting, and redistributing food donations
- Working within the guidelines of food safety standards
- Coordinating and supervising the distribution of food
- Relay feedback/issues to management
- Help lead food recovery program volunteers
- Generating creative ideas and inputs on the program and its development
- Communicate effectively with the rest of the team to ensure the successful coordination and execution of the program
- Fostering an inclusive and empathetic work environment

**Our Hours**:
Production generally runs between **8 am-3 pm**, **Monday to Friday**, including holidays and stats. This schedule may vary depending on operational needs. No late nights or extremely long shis.
