Edmonton, Canada SFPP Corporation Full time

Are you a financial wizard with a passion for pensions? Do you dream of a world where retirement funds are as smooth as butter and as well-planned as a meticulously crafted spreadsheet? Do you enjoy diving deep into the details and then settling into some serious strategic thinking? Do you want to help prepare our pension plan to serve the changing police landscape in Alberta? If so, then we want you on our team

**Who We Are?**

We are a dynamic and innovative Corporation with a passion for supporting police in Alberta. Our team is composed of creative thinkers, problem solvers, and go-getters who aren't afraid to leap into the unknown. As the inaugural Director, Funding, you'll be instrumental in leading and supporting activities to help ensure the continued sustainability of SFPP at a time when public safety programs throughout the province are under considerable review.

**What Drives You**

- You've got an eye for data. You can dive through datasets to identify trends, consider the impact of different scenarios, and develop strategies that protect against vulnerabilities.
- You are a strategic thinker. You enjoy crafting funding strategies that would make even the savviest of investors raise an eyebrow in admiration, and when making recommendations, you consider the big picture and take initiative to achieve long-term objectives.
- You are a people person. You are as good with people as you are with data and numbers; you can engage at all levels of an organization. You enjoy building relationships, fostering teamwork and being part of a positive work culture. Your communication and interpersonal skills make it easy for you to connect with and support others.
- There is an unwavering commitment to ethical conduct and integrity that motivates you. Ensuring an organization's approach protects our pension plan, its members, and employers, helps you sleep at night.
- You flourish under pressure. You enjoy meeting deadlines, knowing that achieving our objectives is worth the effort.
- You have the motivation to develop and execute both short
- and long-term strategies that align the Plan with the organization's strategic objectives.
- You're eager to use your actuarial expertise and experience, strong analytical mind, and problem-solving skills to contribute to the organization and the sustainability of pensions for police in Alberta.

**What You'll Do**
- **Plan Fundin Like a Maestro**:You'll oversee all things actuarial, from extrapolations to funding valuations, and from demographic and economic assumptions to recommendations on contribution rates and cost of living adjustments.
- **Be a Pension Policy Pioneer**: You will do research, consult with stakeholders, and work with others on development of plan design strategies and policies to help shape the future of SFPP. You'll be the guardian of pension regulations and ensure they are followed with the precision of a fine-tuned financial instrument.
- **Dive into data**: You will identify and prioritize organizational data needs to support pension policy initiatives and develop dashboards and other reporting to convey meaningful insights into the Plan.
- **Focus On Strategic Funding Risk Management**: You'll support robust risk management related to the Plan's funding, starting with identifying and quantifying risks, proposing risk mitigation and risk response strategies, and monitoring the progress of such strategies to protect the Plan.
- **Asset Liability Management Magician**: Supporting the CIO, you'll juggle assets and liabilities with the grace of a circus performer, ensuring a seamless and balanced act. You'll be integral to the implementation of asset liability management strategies that leave people wondering, "How did they do that?".
- **Collaborate and innovate**: You will work alongside like-minded professionals to achieve the organization's strategic objectives and play a leadership role in the continued sustainability of the Plan.
- **Educate the Masses**:You will enhance the knowledge of Corporation staff and board members too. By being readily available to answer questions and provide easy-to-understand actuarial and funding concepts, you will provide learning opportunities on a variety of issues.
