The Ministry of Seniors, Community and Social Services provides supports for families and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, financial supports, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. The ministry supports Albertans through a person-centred, integrated service delivery model that recognizes the unique circumstances, experiences and strengths of individuals and families.

Within the Disability Services Division, the Disability Policy branch leads program policy and statutory oversight for the Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) and the Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) programs, focusing on accountability, innovation and policy excellence.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Director, Program Policy and Innovation, this position provides leadership and coordination in support of disability advisories and division-wide stakeholder engagement processes. The Manager is the division lead in providing Secretariat Support to the Premier’s Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities (Council) and the FSCD Provincial Parent Advisory Committee (PPAC).

The Manager requires strong leadership ability to ensure the collaborative and coordinated efforts of diverse PPAC and Council members, sub committees, working groups and associated roles in the community, as well as providing leadership to to their team related to initiatives assigned by the Director and Executive Director in support of the Disability Policy and Supports Branch. The work involves input into a long term strategic vision that will incorporate the needs of individuals, the community and the government, and support the implementation of successful public policy impacting persons with disabilities.

The Manager also leads a team of professionals and administrative staff providing secretariat/advisories support, research, program and policy analysis, specialized advice, and recommendations. The Manager ensures community experience and input is gathered in an effective and respectful way to further the vision of an accessible Alberta for people with disabilities.

Some of the responsibilities include:

- Provide leadership and coordination for disability advisories including the Council and PPAC.
- Provide project management and leadership over key initiatives including the development, implementation, and evaluation of division wide community stakeholder engagement plans, processes, and measures.
- Provide expertise and operational leadership for unit staff in the provision of advice, information, and best practices for relating disability advisories and stakeholder engagement
- Proactively develop networks, connecting and building trust in relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship for professional and administrative staff in Advisory and Engagement unit.
- Supports the development of their organizational and operational structure, including the development and implementation of strategic and business plans.

**Qualifications**:

- University graduation in a related field (i.e. social work, social science, arts, public administration) supplemented by three (3) years related experience.
- Equivalency: directly related experience or education may considered on the basis of:
- One year of experience for one year of education
- One year of education for one year of experience

- Demonstrated experience in:

- Interpersonal communication and relationship management to consult and negotiate with stakeholders who have varying perspectives, expectations and priorities
- Managing and leading a team, providing direction in environments with high degree of ambiguity
- Managing a number of complex issues while achieving results within appropriate time frames
