**The salary range for this position is**:
**Recruitment range: $62,800- $69,237** starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.

**Performance range: starting salary to max of $81,662** is available through annual performance increases.

- Job Summary**Mandate**:
The primary function of the Curator of Collections is to implement the Legacy Art Galleries’ curatorial activities including exhibitions, special projects, student work integrated learning programs, and collections development in accordance with Legacy’s priorities, policies, and procedures.

Together with the Director and the Curator of Indigenous Art and Engagement, this position establishes a vision for the collection that incorporates donations, purchases, transfers and deaccessions; and facilitates the activation of the collection through exhibitions and programs. This position plans and oversees work integrated learning opportunities for postsecondary students and recent graduates such as cooperative education, work study and related programs.

**Objectives**:

- Work closely with the Director and the gallery’s curatorial team in setting priorities and developing an exhibitions and public programs strategy, which complements and builds upon UVic’s academic programs and promotes campus and community engagement.
- Work with donors to build the art collection according to established collecting priorities, policies and procedures.
- Manage student work integrated learning programs at the gallery including funding, hiring, and overseeing training and mentorship from gallery professional staff.
- Work with the Collections Management Systems Coordinator to ensure accurate documentation of the collection.

This position primarily works off campus at the Legacy Art Gallery Downtown, 630 Yates Street, with occasional work on campus, in the community and in offsite storage locations as needed.
- Job RequirementsThis position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent a **Masters degree in Art History, Museum Studies or related field** plus **minimum **5 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
