The Assistant Manager, Client Onboarding Processing leads a team that is responsible for supporting Canadian Wealth Management (CWM) businesses in all account opening & maintenance activities and providing direction and support to CWM businesses on matters of policy and procedures with specific expertise in complex areas of Anti-money Laundering, IIROC and Registered Accounts and ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

**Accountabilities**
- Work with the Manager, Client Onboarding to resolve complex, multi-faceted problems to meet the business needs of the CWM businesses with a specific focus on creating operational efficiencies and solutions for client onboarding
- Working effectively with other departments and outside vendors, and ensuring that all interactions with both internal and external contacts are professional, handled in a timely manner and completed with accuracy
- Ensuring all operational and support issues are escalated when needed
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
- Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment. Develop, maintain and influence partnerships with internal and external operations, technology, and business partners and industry peers in order to influence/guide business decisions on regulatory and industry initiatives.
- Train staff on departmental specific functions.

**Education and Experience**

In-depth knowledge of regulatory and related risk management requirements and best practices including the following:

- AML/ATF, tax reporting, IIROC Rule 1300, FATCA, QI, MFDA & IIROC requirements in the wealth management industry.
- Awareness of reputational risk for the bank WM businesses if regulations are not met.
- Extensive knowledge of operational processes used in support of Wealth Management’s businesses.
- Technical understanding of the Broadridge BPS & Datafile systems.
- Technical knowledge of the policies processes and procedures used within Wealth Management businesses (e.g. brokerage, trust, investment counsel, mutual funds and private banking).
- An understanding of project management methodologies.
- Strong communication and collaborative work skills.
- A comprehensive knowledge of coaching and management techniques to support staff and foster a productive and positive work environment.
- Effective time management/execution skills to help ensure the successful delivery/implementation of products/systems as well as processes and policies.
- Highly focused on results ensuring effective use of resources in meeting project timelines and budgets.
- Ability to balance and prioritize sometimes competing or conflicting goals of various departments/stakeholders (requires highly developed strategic influencing skills & ability to handle pressure).
