**About You / What We Are Looking For**
We are looking for a self-starter who is passionate about how construction site erosion and sediment control measures can benefit local watercourses to join our small team of dedicated environmental professionals.

**Main Duties**:

- Assist in the operation of environmental protection and pollution prevention programs
- Be responsible for monitoring the City’s real-time water quality data from construction sites and sensitive watercourses
- Investigate issues and enforce a range of environmental bylaws including stream and drainage protection, water conservation and pesticide use
- Recommend protective measures and improvements to reduce and control environmental impacts related to development activities, construction issues, businesses and residential properties
- Be responsible for investigating related complaints and enforcing relevant bylaws

- Ability to work outdoors in all conditions
- Excellent public education and interpersonal skills
- Strong written/verbal communication
- Strong field data recording/entry skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Formal conflict resolution training, bylaw enforcement experience (including evidence collection), and experience conducting public education and outreach campaigns would be considered an asset

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Experience and knowledge of erosion and sediment control facilities, and monitoring of construction sites for the appropriate implementation of these facilities.
- Bachelor degree in environmental sciences, environmental management, resource management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Minimum of three years’ related experience and sound knowledge and experience in water quality sampling, testing and monitoring equipment
- Erosion and Sediment Control (BC-CESCL) certification
- BC Driver’s License, or equivalent, is required

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Municipal environmental bylaw enforcement experience in construction site erosion and sediment control compliance

**What We Offer**:
This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $44.20 - $52.20. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.

Additionally, there is an opportunity to participate in an earned day off/flex day program. This position is based in Coquitlam with some flexible, hybrid work options available.
