This position is apart of **YouthCO's** **Positive Youth Program**

The Positive Youth Program is a community-health-leadership and dedicated support program by and for youth with lived and living experience of HIV or Hep C. Our program works with youth as young as 6 and up to 29 years old. We take an anti-oppressive and harm reduction approach to our work, integrating youth-centred and culturally affirming care in all we do. Our program includes our low-barrier one-to-one support service for youth in the Fraser Health region, monthly online and in-person meetings, a volunteer program, and an annual summer & winter camp.

**Position Description**

The Program Coordinator works closely with other members of the Positive Youth Program Team to develop, plan, and implement comprehensive HIV & Hep C community programming for youth living with HIV/Hep C in British Columbia.

As a dynamic leader, you bring an innovative, responsive, grounded, and collaborative approach to your leadership style. You work closely with the youth to ensure that their voices, knowledge, and wisdom are considered and included in the decision-making processes, whenever possible, and that their personal and professional growth is an integral part of their journey. You value evaluation and a continuous feedback loop with participants to ensure programs are relevant, responsive, and participants centered.

Moreover, as an advocate for youth, you are passionate about supporting the well-being of youth through programs and services that support their whole person. You believe that youth are powerful change-makers and want to contribute toward the creation of services to support them to thrive.

**Shared Responsibilities**
- Work closely with members of the Positive Youth Program Team to ensure the smooth planning and implementation of all program activities
- Collaborate with members of the Positive Youth Program Team to evaluate and innovate our programming, ensuring that is reflective of community need
- Ensure programming is responsive to and inclusive of youth living with and most impacted by HIV and Hep C
- Cultivate a welcoming and safe environment for youth where they feel safe to seek and provide support to and from each other in navigating challenges related to HIV and Hep C
- Document all program activities required for program reporting and evaluation
- Provide support to YouthCO staff in other programs, including collaborating on cross-team projects and assisting in program planning and delivery as needed
- Build and maintain a strong up-to-date working knowledge of:_
- The effects of colonialism, structural oppression, and stigma on HIV and Hep C in the lives of youth in BC
- Services related to HIV and Hep C in BC, particularly in the communities of Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley
- The basics of HIV and Hep C testing, treatment, transmission, and strategies for reducing the possibility of the viruses being passed
- Safe and effective community wellness resources for queer and trans youth in BC, particularly in the communities of Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley
- Leadership opportunities for Poz youth in BC, particularly in the communities of Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley

**Focus Area Responsibilities**
- Program Logistics & Coordination_
- Plan and facilitate logistics for all program activities, including venue, accommodation, transportation, refreshments, materials preparation, and accessibility supports
- Prepare event plans, budgets, and run sheets
- Research resources needed for programs including materials, venue, and catering options
- Build and maintain a database of vendors, venues, and key logistics contacts
- Coordinate the registration of program participants
- Maintain records of all program-related invoices and receipts
- Coordinate volunteer and participant honoraria payments
- Coordinate the website publishing of our events, workshops, and volunteer recruitment
- Provide post-activity logistics support, including distributing and monitoring feedback surveys
- Community Building & Peer Support_
- Facilitate regular community-building activities including in-house socials, community dinners, discussion nights, and outdoor activities
