Our strategy, facilities, partnerships and resources are intentionally student-centred to foster dialogue, expression and open connections in support of the next generation of creative and cultural leaders.- The Coordinator is responsible for the development, planning, and administration of youth and community programs within ECU Continuing Studies. As a part of a collaborative team, the position oversees a key growth portfolio of programs including courses and workshops, day camps and summer institutes, and community partnerships. The coordinator supervises a dedicated team of instructors and staff, including assigning and renewing contracts and providing feedback, support, and coordination to ensure a welcoming, safe, and quality learning environment for all students. The coordinator will have a central role in developing new programs to broaden access to art, media, and design education at ECU for more learners.**Benefits of Joining the Emily Carr community**:

**Some Typical Duties**:

- Serves as the primary contact for youth and community programs, managing a large number of enrolled students, instructors, program staff, ensuring day-to-day operational success through data-informed decision-making. Elevates complex matters to managers when necessary.
- Coordinates daily administration and logistics of youth and community programs, including organizing program information and communication; confidential student information and support; classroom and materials needs; confidential instructor information, contracts, and support; and general troubleshooting.
- Provides on-site supervision of youth intensive programming, including spring break art camp and summer institutes; acts as main point of contact for instructors, staff, and students for daily troubleshooting and urgent situations, activating support networks and resources as needed.
- Under the guidance of the Manager of Education Initiatives and in alignment with Emily Carr University policy and governance processes, develops annual program plans and assigns instructors and program staff to courses, based on a combination of instructor preferences, course data, performance feedback and organizational goals.
- Serves as the main relationship contact for instructors teaching within the youth and community programs portfolio, providing information on teaching opportunities and schedules; supporting lesson planning and classroom management; sharing teaching feedback; and referring to resources as needed.
- Supervises casual program coordinator and assistants contracted for classroom support for intensive and community programs; coordinates and tracks contracts, timesheets, and payments for instructors and assistants.
- Oversees and actively engages in instructor and staff recruitment processes, managing performance, receiving course evaluations of instructors within the program area and handling any necessary termination of instructional contracts under the guidance of the Manager, Education Initiatives.
- In consultation with the Manager of Education Initiatives, develops and delivers program orientation and training sessions for instructors and staff.
- Provides support and advising to students, parents and guardians on issues including program pathways and selection, student experience and conduct, and other topics as needed.
- Monitors and tracks program budgets; purchases supplies as needed.
- Planning and hosting guest artists, speakers, and other special events.
- Engages in community outreach and hosts informational sessions; creates and maintains networks within youth and community programming spaces.
- Under the guidance of Manager of Education Initiatives, researches and explores opportunities for new program and partnership development through needs assessments, literature reviews, and conversations with community and industry members.
