The Ministry of Municipal Affairs assists municipalities in providing well-managed, collaborative, and accountable local government to Albertans. Our main responsibilities are:

- Funding supports for municipalities
- A system that strives to ensure appropriate safety standards for the construction and maintenance of buildings and equipment
- Protections for new home buyers and required licensing for home builders
- Province-wide support for access to public library services for Albertans
- Management of about 2.6 million acres of public land in the province's three Special Areas Independent review and decisions on local matters by the Land and Property Rights Tribunal

Municipal Affairs is engaging with municipal and industry stakeholders from the energy, forestry, and manufacturing sectors to re-initiate an assessment model review (AMR) and develop long-term plans to ensure the regulated property assessment system is updated.

Reporting to the Director, Assessment and Property Tax Policy, the Manager, Strategic Initiatives provides leadership and advice on the Assessment Model Review by delivering research, issues management, advice, and stakeholder consultations required to conduct a major review of the regulated industrial property assessment models.

The successful individual will provide leadership, management, innovation and supervision to one of three teams, the Strategic Initiatives team, within the Assessment and Property Tax Policy Unit.

The key responsibilities for this position:

- Provides strategic advice including overall project planning and oversight for the Assessment Model Review project, and ensure the project meets agreed upon milestones outcome.
- Leads the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement and communication strategies.
- Coordinates technical review and analysis of regulated assessment model components.
- Contributes to the mandate and goals of the Assessment and Property Tax Policy Unit.

**Qualifications**:

**Requirements**:

- Experience in stakeholder engagement.
- Experience in policy review, analysis, and development experience.
- Demonstrated strengths in project planning and management.
- Communication skills to facilitate communicating information to a variety of Stakeholders.

Assets:

- Knowledge of municipal administration,
- Knowledge of Alberta's property assessment and tax framework, and
- Awareness of the Municipal Government Act and associated regulations.
