**Position Purpose**:
The Supervisor, Capital Budgeting and Forecasting is accountable for the utility capital reporting including budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis. The role will partner with the business units to plan, monitor and report on capital expenditures to ensure adherence to the approved budget and provide timely reporting to business unit owners as well as provide reports for consolidation into corporate reporting. This role will support the Manager of Capital Reporting and will be accountable for leading the continuous improvements for the Capital team with respect to the interfaces with the ERP system.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develops, implements, and monitors the capital budget to ensure adherence to the approved budget by Investment Category on a consolidated level.
- Specifically, accountable as the business partner for all System Renewal investments ensuring appropriate execution of the budget and development of ongoing forecasts to ensure capital expenditures are met in accordance with budget and corporate strategic objectives.
- Support reporting requirements for non-financial business partners.
- Provide reporting and analysis for consolidation and presentation to senior management and the finance team monthly as well as quarterly forecasts
- Ensure all material projects and programs for business partners are input into Copperleaf software, evaluated, monitored, and reported in a timely manner for consideration and approval during budget process
- Assists business leads with submitting Additional funding budget requests for Asset Investment Planning (capital program and project) as required.
- Provides support to rate case submissions and subsequent capital related filing requirements
- Involved in the development of the short term and long term plan for Asset Investments
- Involved with the capital management information system(s) to track, measure and optimize the capital portfolio and identifies opportunities to improve effectiveness
- Assists the manager with researching and implementing new or enhanced policies, procedures and processes to improve operational effectiveness
- Assists with completion of benchmarking analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of investments and resource utilization.
- Ensures compliance to legislative, regulatory and Health & Safety policies, procedures and standards
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Specialized duties would include:

- Prepare consolidation of budgets, actuals and forecast to present to senior management and the finance team for consolidation into corporate reporting
- Support the specific business partners in the execution of the approved plan
- Partner with Asset Management departments as a key point of contact for Capital results as it pertains to Regulatory filings and associated support cross functionally
- Provide coaching and leadership to Capital Reporting team with the development and implementation of PowerBI for continuous improvements of reporting on capital results
- Act as key partner with Copperleaf C55 software development and cross functional usage towards the preparation of Financial Plans and Regulatory Filings

**Skills & Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Post-secondary education and/or a professional designation.
- CPA designation or equivalent experience in business administration, finance or accounting
- Must hold and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s license

**Experience**:

- Require 5 years of accounting experience or related experience
- Supervision experience would be an asset
- Experience in a unionized utility environment would be an asset
- Familiarity with reporting in a regulated industry

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Strong ability to influence and lead change and engage, develop and motivate teams
- Proven ability to partner with non-financial teams
- Demonstrated knowledge of consolidated reporting
- Strong planning skills, with the ability to assess the impact of decisions holistically
- Excellent written and presentation skills, with the ability to organize and convey information in a compelling way
